Beers

Impressive amount of liquid in such a short amount of time. No matter what it was.

Out of nearby Akron Ohio, Thirsty Dog's American IPA. Real citrusy aroma and flavor with a little more than a hint of malt afterwards, little bitter also. Pretty good.

Black beer is the best beer!

Tried one of these last eve. Very good for a young whipper snapper of a brewery. The vanilla is just a hint in the aftertaste.
Ain't no Samuel Smith but how many breweries have used the same stone Yorkshire squares for 200+ years

last night...

Picked up the new Leinenkugel Autumn sampler, smashed the fresh Orange Shandy, good stuff, way better than the Lemon Shandy.

Then I moved on to the Hoppin' Helles, another good one.

if your asking me.. I say it wasnt bad... definitely dark.. and you get the hint of chocolate.. but no PB or banana taste...

wasnt great wasnt bad.. wont buy again.. was the one off..

they also make a maple bacon.. i know some that tried it and dont like it.. i havent tried it yet

I was. And that's two beers (the one you had and the maple bacon) that I understand aren't the "would buy again" types. Seems like two failures.

The whole Voodoo Doughnuts thing is a flash in the pan of Portlandia hype. Voodoo has been around for a while & was a local favorite doughnut shop because of their late hours & wild concoctions. Staggering out of a bar or concert to pass an open doughnut shop with bacon maple bars was nice, now the line is always prohibitively long.
The city is latching onto anything that is getting national attention. Around here there are so many breweries they get pretty out there.
Portland is full of nutjobs with disposable income & even more flow through on a regular basis.

Rouges chocolate stout is a really great stout

Portlandia made me laugh.

This is good, but weak as hell. Maybe it'll be a morning beer shake reducer. Imagine Sprite and grapefruit juice mixed together, with a thicker mouth feel.
