Beers

Went to BevMo to see if they had any of those "Pliney the Elders"...no luck.

I did pick up this bad boy. Saw a poster on the back of a beer truck the other morning so I figured I will give it a shot. "Hop Juice" brewed by Left Coast brewery out of San Clemente CA. I boasts a 9.4% alcohol rating  on the bottle it says they use 4 pounds of hops per barrel. As for the taste...I am about 3 swigs into it, still not used to it and I think I am catching a buzz already8)

I tried that about a week ago its pretty good. Not has hoppy as i thought it would be.

Also dont swirl it out of the bottle.

Yeah I hear ya Shoei its more bitter than hoppy, every time I took a drink I looked at the glass to see if it was empty yet, not really an enjoyable beer.
Tell ya what though...I'm sunk in this chair real nice like. The high alcohol % is nice but I wont be buying this one again. I like to enjoy my beer while I drink it"thumbsup"

Dinner tonight

Went to BevMo to see if they had any of those "Pliney the Elders"...no luck.

The less Pliny for you.....the more Pliny for me! Two Pliny's and two Chicago Brats for dinner. Unfortunately only one Pliny was mine. My girlfriend has also declared next brew day a Pliny recipe day....I'll see how it turns out.

mmm that looks really good.

i usually drink yinglings though i do like a good naughty dog on occasion. though my personal favorite is Sam Adams the traditional lager for me though.

Chicago brats?
Dont you know all of us Chicagoians eat Johnsonville's brats and Vienna beef hotdogs

Chicago style Norm.......I found this recipe in a magazine, and that's what they called it. I've only been to Chicago once and never had a Brat there, so I don't know how authentic it is, but it's my favorite way to make them now.

By the way, EeePee and Patrick aren't going to be happy with the picture quote above.

Wow. I just read thru the whole thread. Living currently in one of the beer capitals of the world I must look into this IPA thing. After googling a bit it looks like there are a lot of Belgian IPAs available. Cant wait to hit the shelves on my local shops.

bAck to the topic

Since my re-discovery of Natural Ice I haven't been drinking much Heineken lately. I will say that when I do get to drink Heineken, it tastes so much better. Its like going from a sirloin to a filet. NOM-TASTIC!

one of the best beers ive ever drank.
This is a good limited from Lagunitas "Lucky 13". They call it "A mondo large red ale". Its a hearty 8.3% of dark goodness. This is fresh out of the freezer where it sat for 30 min.

My lls does not have the new Stone release yet, he said he will be talking to the beer guy in the next few days.

Well time to drink...gonna be a good Monday finally! Cheers"thumbsup"

wow, that stout is some dark beer. Is it pretty thick?

I got to say, Im still pretty simple to drinking the beers i grew up with.

Mickey's Big Mouth's: Tastes like water and goes down just the same!
Ice House: Plenty of percentage to get you messed up and cheap!
Black label:The cheaper version of Olde Style only with more taste!

I know its sad that I will drink that stuff, but Hey it's beer!
Now like I said before, when I go out to dinner, there's nothing like an Ice cold Fat Tire with a 18oz. Steak and a fullyloaded potatoe at the Texas Roadhouse. And when I go out to the Rib and Chop house and have a baseball steak with garlic and bacon mashed potatoes, Throwing that down with a couple of Blue Moon belgians

Now if its a special occasion or just hanging out with some good friends or family. I generally like to crack it up with something you guys may not have tried before.
If your looking for the following %'s of alchol and dont mind the occasional fruit taste. try Glacier BrewHouse beers. The beer is kinda hard to get a hold of and generally only comes in Casks, but a few of my buds work up in Alaska and get it and bring it back in Glass 5 gallon water jugs.

I highly recomend the following
Oak aged Imperial Stout 9.7%
Ice Axe Ale 9.0%

I havent tryed the others, but I hear that there is a 10% Vol. beer that is part whiskey!

Yeah "lucky 13" is some good beer!

Haven't tried the "Oaked" yet, looks dark. How is the taste?

Just finished one of my favorite smooth IPA's. This one is from Rubicon Brewing Company here in Sacramento. Its a 6.5% IPA so its on the light side but the taste is one of the best. If someone had not tried IPA's yet I would strongly recommend this one to start. BevMo has it on club card for $3.49 right now"thumbsup"(probably limited to the west coast though).
