Berg vs Bully

So I'm up in the air between the two. Based on parts support and customer support and the fact they're made in the USA, I'm heavily leaning toward Bully. If I decide to go with Bully, what's the latest version I should look for, v2? Or is there another upgrade out?

Hey Klamp. Try and get the lightweight bully axles and start from there unless you're getting an rtr which I don't really suggest.

Why not XR10? No more expensive than a berg or bully and a heck of a lot of aftermarket support.

I have owned and competed with both.....both have their advantages and disadvantages. I started with the Bully and the axles are bulletproof right out of the box. I never broke a single thing on my 2.2 bully axles and the performed decently. It will be a challenge for you to get a bully axled truck below six pounds (at least it was for me). Now I drive a berg and it seems to perform better. Most chassis were designed around the link separation of the berg axles. However, these things are FAR bulletproof in stock form. I have broken quite a few parts on them before I finally upgraded them to the point that they are reliable. I was able to easily get my berg below 6 pounds.

It seems like there's a trade off between weight & cost. Are the light weight bullys as reliable as the normal weights? I don't think I'm trying for the lightest rig; it's not cost-effective for me. But if the price difference between the normal bullys and the light weights are nominal, I don't have a problem paying a few more bucks.

So am I correct in thinking the normal bullys are v2 and light weights are v1? I want to make sure I'm comparing specs and prices for the most recent items.

You have it reversed. The light weights are V2 and the heavier cast versions are V1. The V2's are lighter and stronger because they are machined whereas the V1's are cast and not as strong.

These are the bully axles you would want:

Thanks for the clarification.

Yes....and you want the light weight axles..."thumbsup"

Is there anything I should look for or be concerned about when looking at used axles?

Not really. The only thing that I didnt like about the axles was the bearings that they came with. They were of poor quality and didnt last very long. Look for mostly stock axles with little wear and tear.....just like buying a 1:1."thumbsup"

Hey mate when I was looking for my axles I got them from the for sale section I noticed someone selling a full rig cheaper than buying them new I see if I can find it and I'll post a link for you

No problem. I'll probably scour the classifieds once I get access. Don't have enough time or posts yet. Out of curiosity, is there a Want To Trade section? I've got an MBX6 electric buggy I'm looking to trade for a crawler, if at all possible.
