Best Beadlocks

My vote is for the MAYHEM wheels. These things are VERY nice and you are not going to get better customer service."thumbsup"

Well I voted for...

Yeah, I love his stuff. Amazing service, really nice guy. He answers my PM's within an hour most of the time and the wheels are sick. I cant pull the bead out, the rubber will tear before the tire undoes.

The Losis are by far the best tire in that pic, but I have the new Panter tires coming and a set of Mayhem Competion Delrin wheels with the ball bearings coming also. I think that is going to be my best set and my competition setup. Otherwise I have been using the Losi's again becuase in the end, IMO The proline tires suck compared to the losis. I tryed to hype them up for myself, but I ran my Claws today and the other 2 just cant do it.

My opinion...

Store bought... Proline beadlocks hands down the best and narrowest out. Fast and easy mounting.

Vendors here on RCC... First pick is Vanquish because of the innovation. You can swap weight without removing the tires. The finish is amazing and they are really tough wheels.

Close second is Mayhem. Very nice finish just too many screws to deal with and threadlock.

Least Favorite... Erikson style. The rings are way too thick for the tires I run. Big an heavy is a plus though.

Eritex rings are quite thin, and have recessed pockets for the screw heads on the face too. The backside ring is also much larger in ID to allow for larger knuckles and steering clearance if a narrower offset style is used.

I am pulling the tire away from the Eritex BL here, otherwise you couldn't see the thickness of the ring. The MSD is sitting as-is.

Given the choices, it's Eritex"thumbsup". Excellent quality, great customer service and reasonable pricing.

Mayhem / Drastic Sports are to heavy. MSD is a much better aluminum wheel for basically the same price and the wheel is liter allowing you some option to weight the front and leave the rear alone. With the Mayhem / Drastic Sport wheel you are stuck with what you bought in terms of weight.
I am surprised no one has mentioned Create A Crawler bead locks. Those and Vanquish bead locks are certainly the most expensive, but they offer different adjustments that no other bead locks currently do. Those two are certainly the best, assuming you can afford the higher cost for them.

For me, a plastic bead lock is not an option. It's ultimately a waste of time and money.

Might as well chime in here..

So far in my limited crawling life, I have only ever owned a set of Axial Rocksters and Mayhems (wk offset spiders/double phattys). I have never held / seen in person any of the other beadlocks so I can't really comment on their customer service, durability or any other aspect. Well, the Proline's would simply be walking in and ordering them from your LHS.

I have been chatting to Mayhem on and off for about the last two months and I will say he is an excellent fellow to chat and deal with. Very calm and understanding. I had problems deciding on an order, changed the order, changed it again. In the end, he was graceful enough to get it worked out and I thank him for that. So in turn, I was giving him some feedback on the wheels directly. Treat others how you wanted to be treated.

I think I would agree with Offroader5's post as well, alum or delrin would be the best way of going. Whatever you find that works with what you want to get out of crawling, that is wheel for you. When they stop doing what you want, you change. I think a majority of our club runs plastic wheels on their crawlers however.

If I had to choose a beadlock rim I would say Eritex rims cause they were the oringinal beadlock that would hold a tire on the rim. I own a set of the VF, Exitex 2.2, and a set of RC4wd the VF are the only rim that has the stock rings on them (they hold a bead no problem). My RC4wd are the easiest to mount tires to (with 62pyro rings). And the Exitex are the heaviest and are next in line to the easiest to mount a tire on. You really cant count MSD rims cause they are a copy of the oringinal (Extitex). This is based on my opinion.

If the hex's do not strip, then it is a good quality rim.
I was very sceptical of the pro-lines until i used them. The only plastic rim that did not strip till this day. And i have been running them for 2 months straight.

Pro lines all the way!!!

I have pretty much every type out. Delrin/plastic breaks.

The best I have delt with at this point is Vanquish, they mount the easiest, hold the bead the best, weight adjustablity is the best, and look the best.

What do I have to compare against? RC4WDx2, Mayhemx2, Eriksonx2, VF, CAC, MSD, and Assial.

Bingo, we have a winner"thumbsup""thumbsup"

Wish I could have added in the Vanquist wheels - Oh well I got what I got.

Otherwise looks like a great head to head between Mayhem and Eritex.

Sorry Tony but it just isn't that same without the Vanquish wheels on the poll
The results would be different. No vote from me until I can vote for the best.
