I have an Axial SCX10 III build I'm about to start and I'm in the process of planning out the color scheme. I would like to do a matte black roof to simulate the removable top seen on the 1:1. I can think of a couple of ways to accomplish this but I thought I would ask here what the preferred method might be (Note I'm likely going to be using black as my backing color):
1. Mask the roof portion I want to be black, paint the inside body color as usual, take the mask off and come in with the black backing and paint the whole of the inside. Then apply a matte clear to the roof portion on the outside.
2. Same as above but instead of a matte clear as the last step, fog the Lexan with a harsh chemical such as acetone to get the matte look (the advantage being the matte finish cant be scratched off).
3. Paint the body color on the whole inside and simply paint the outside of the the roof portion matte black ( I don't like this because the body color would show through when scratched)
4. Same as method 1, but paint the outside with matte black instead of matte clear (not sure why that would make a difference but I'm just asking).
5. Other... (please elaborate).
Thanks in advance for your input!
