Sorry if this is a repost.

Been doing some servo research..I made a switch to the Losi Crawler system,
no longer running a BEC. Trying to find the best servo at 6V, looking for
torque and speed.

This is the best servo I could find at 6V. Anyone try this or use it?

Also does anyone have any idea what this JR servo would be at 6V???
Everyplace I see only list it at 2s specs.

both of those look great but why no bec? i would think a servo like that would almost require one.

The losi system has a on board BEC that puts out 6v 5amps. I just like the
setup, looks clean and runs great...6v is more then enough power for these little
rc's

Even though the ESC can push 6v 5a it may still be in your best interest to run a BEC. The external BEC takes that load off of the ESC, and allows the ESC to run cooler....especially at higher voltage. I use a different brushless futaba servo in one of my brushless 1/8th conversions with a Monster Max ESC, and I noticed that even on that HUGE ESC that I ran cooler with an external BEC. Considering the tight space with limited airflow that the crawler ESC runs it, I personally would still run the external BEC to help ensure better cooling at the ESC. This would also allow for the possible 7.4v capabilities of the servo to be utilized at a future date if so desired. This is more of a "best practice" than a rule, but it has never failed me...I just run a BEC on everything with a high power servo....which is everything that I build from crawlers to road cars to brushless monster trucks to electronic buggy conversions.

I'll have to agree on the Futaba S9157 at 6v is a great servo for the money but the BEC is a good thing to insure the servo gets full voltage and takes the load off the ESC. It just a more efficient use of power

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. The Losi ESC runs very cool as it
is. Plus it helps that the fan turns on as soon as it has power....I know it would
be less stress on the ESC to run a BEC. But I think it should still work flawlessly
and never run into heat problems. If I'm wrong on my thinking let me know, I'm
open into leaning new stuff "thumbsup"
