Better steering angle out of a TH?

One thing I noticed with my Clone Hammers is that the steering angle sucks. It appears that plenty of others have noticed this too, but what confuses me is that all of the threads I've read seem to point to the steering system as the problem, but in looking closely at mine last night, it appears that the mechanical limitation is from the steering knuckle contacting the a-arm, not anything to do with the steering mechanism. Has anybody addressed this mechanical limitation?

I looked more closely tonight and it is the rack that's hitting first, but it appears that there's only 1 or 2 degrees more until the knuckle hits the a-arm. Changing to a bell crank design can help a little, but something will need to be done to improve the on the clearance between the knuckle and arm too.
