Well, I heard this story from my mom just now at dinner of what happened to one of the teachers at school she works with. What she said happened was that the teacher was at a Wawa and that there was a man with a gas tank standing between the gas pumps talking to her. He kept on saying that he broke down just a short ways down the road and needed some gas. She decided to help the individual and fill up his container, it was only a small red one so she said it couldn't hurt. She added it on to her bill and after that he went back between the pumps. Then he came back after 30 seconds very close to her and in a threatening way kept on asking her if she had anywork or if he can get a ride or you need some help around the house. She had to physically push him off to get to the other side of her car to get in. He then quickily retreated to the side walk and still watched her. The teacher pulled around to the other side of Wawa and went in the back entrance( I think she was stupid for this, not to many people on that side) Went in side asked the cashier when she got her stuff about it. Cashier said it is happening around the county, dont know what he or they want or what they are trying to do. The cashier also said that the guy has only been bothering women, and that cops where called and on the way and she could stay to file a report if she pleased but did not have to. She went out the back entrance and luckily he didnt follow her around. When she drove to the exit the same guy was already back between the gas pumps talking to another woman with out his gas tank. So I dont know what this whole thing is about but it is happening alot around here and they dont just want gas.

Not trying to start a public watch thread, but I garuntee next time I go to fill up if there is the guy with his gas tank between the pumps fitting the description she saw. Then I am going over to ask the woman if this guy is bothering her.

Same thing happened to my 2 weeks ago. A man comes up to me at the gas station while I'm puimping in my gas. He has a one gallon red plastic can, ask if I can spare him a gallon of gas cause he ran out just in front of the station. He was parked on the side of the road. I gave the gallon to him thinking I was doing a good deed by helping him. One gallon was $3.29 at the time. He poured it into his car and I drove off. Curiosity got the best of me and I turned around and went back, parked up the street where I could watch for a few minutes. The guy was asking everyone for 1 gallon of gas while they were pumping their own gas. Most gave him a gallon.
I decided these people never buy gas, they just beg for it. Never again will I get ripped off this way.

yeah im sorry but with gas pushin 4 bucks a gallon this summer i dont care how broke you are....youre not getting any gas from me.....im just as broke as you buddy....

With the economy going the way it is, there's more crime to come.

I live in Grovetown, a small suburb of the Augusta area. We have a gas station that is across the street from the police station.

On the 17th this Gas station was robbed just before 6 AM when the owner was opening for the day.

Mark my words, (common sense, really) crime will go up as the economy worsens.

I live in a big city.....anyone that comes up to me asking for anything, I ask them to get away from me. Hobos get an additional comment...."get a job".

After spending $40 for a just under 11 gallons of gas saturday, anybody who asks me will get the same response:-(

My G/F just fell for this the other day. Only this guy was "on his way to _____" and holding a 5 gal. can. She gave him $5 and he went away. She thought she was being nice, but I would have told him to piss off. Things sure are going down the shitter quickly.

I have to agree 10 fold....

this gas station cashier says WTF!

i work at a gas station and its protocall to toss people like that and call the cops if they dont want to leave being a cashier its rather boring doing the same thing over and over again so i look forward to those kinds of things to break up the bordum of stupid and inconsirate people coming into the station not saying all people are stupid and inconsirate just the majority of them are

I had a guy come up to me holding one of these gas tanks asking me if i could fill it up or give him some money to get home. I chuckled and told him to get lost, after asking a few other people for money or gas i saw him get back into his parked car and drive off. Never knew that many people were falling for this scam.
