Hey guys,
I picked up my scx-10 honcho and a cherokee body know more or less nothing about RC crawlers other than that the axial scx-10 is the best for my needs after checking out a lot of the awesome builds and tons of knowlege. I have always been a 1:1 jeep guy, owning 2x '89 cherokee 4.0 and 3x '98 grand cherokee 5.9ltds. When I found out I could get a cherokee for the scx-10 I immediately ordered the honcho kit and cherokee body. I played with the honcho for a week or two while I slowly prepped my jeep body in my spare time. Finally got the motivation to finish my jeep body when my best friend bought himself a honcho out of jealousy of mine. Not cool playing with identical looking rigs, lol. This build is going to be over time, and I will be updating this thread as I do things, small and big. My plan is to learn all I need to with this body and then do a better job on a second body...this one is ok, but there are a lot of first timer mistakes and I have already found 2 or 3 other gunmetal cherokee builds lol. Anyways, here are some pictures:

The day it arrived (had it sent to work so I didn't miss it!)

Promptly took it wheeling with me a few days later, not my 1:1 truck.

Then it was cloned! I took my front bumper off for better approach angles and put on some 1.9 proline swamper tsl with axial 8hole beadlocks

Same tires as on my 1:1

Finally painted the XJ body and slapped in on the scx

Since and during that process I have done little things that I feel have made a huge improvement to its crawling capabilities, removed the bump stops from the shocks, relocated the battery to the back in-between the rear shock towers, trimmed stock dingo bumper (have rear dingo bumper on the way so they will match) and raised the bumper mount so it sits flush with the body, also molded the stock sliders closer to the body with a bic lighter "thumbsup"

Here is a close-up of the front bumper, I re-did the mounts in metal aka license plate yesterday so pics don't show it yet, but the bumper sits the same, it can just take a hit now. My plan is to add a winch and wire leds into the headlights and the light holes on the bumper, but the factory wiring isn't long enough to do that now, so I need to get a better led kit than what came stock.

And thats pretty much where it sits. I have a gens ace 5000mah 40c lipo and thunder charger coming from hobby parts, and I have aluminum links and some other stuff coming. Gonna be a good week! Ill post up pics as I get things installed and painted.

Thanks! I have had many 1:1 jeeps and of the 5 I have owned, I am taking inspiration from these 2, which I think shows in the build already ;-)

Current 1998 grand cherokee 5.9l lifted 7.0 on claytons offroad longarms with 35X12.5x15 super swamper tsl.

Past '89 cherokee 4.0l 5speed. still miss that one dearly

Anyways, the plan is to build this 1:10 into a combo of the 2 above jeeps and then some. eventually I will catch up the 1:1 to the crawler, lol!

I took the crawler on my first "trail run" with it tonight. It was the most fun I have had with this thing to date. Need my lipo to get here so I can go longer, but it was still fun! If I hit this type of run in my big jeep I would have called this a forest service road with some fun areas to play on and a couple decent hill climbs. Here are some pics and some links to youtube videos. I am lucky to have some nice parks close to come. this was 2 min away from my house.

A couple videos I hosted on youtube. I am by no means a professional driver or photographer. Not looking for much criticism on either, lol. Enjoy!

Well my aluminum links got here along with my dingo rear bumper. Mounted it up but still don"t have any pics of it  Got 2 gens ace 5000mah 40c batteries and a thunder ac6 charger as well. One of the batteries showed up bloated, so I have to call hobbypartz.com tomorrow and deal with their amazing customer service (sarcastic) tomorrow and find out whats going to happen with that..... Also found a badass crawling spot in the Seattle area thats only 15min from my house. Its this park that was built for extreme mountain bikers, but nobody ever goes there. Ill get some pics of the park as a whole later, but I just have some pics of the jeep before, during and after my only crawl session there so far. It is like a mini rubicon, mini moab, and lots of other places in one. Also, it is under I-5 so it is always 75% dry! I have spent 7-8 hours there in the last 3 days crawling/bashing. And before I found this place I put some work into my rig installing the aluminum links, waterproofing ecu, and electronics box, axles and repositioning steering servo for real looking steering, relocated my battery to the rear for better weight distribution, and weighted my wheels for better flex and traction, as well as when it rolls over it almost always lands on it's wheels now "thumbsup" Anyways, here are some pics of the last session at the park, and I will have some better pics of the actual park tomorrow or tuesday.......

After a good bashing. How it should always look if you ask me, but I know it wouldn't last long if I didn't clean it promptly after letting it get this bad.....

(and I know this isn't nearly as bad as some of the pics I have seen, but for 3 weeks out of the box brand new, I am glad I can beat it so happily for the money I have into it, lol)

Well it's been a fun few days! Had our family holiday party last weekend so I didn't get much done to the XJ, but I got a good day of crawling/ bashing in on Monday at the new spot I described last post. Then it has been seriously raining solid for the last couple days. I am currently not working due to a back injury so I have lots of time to invest in this thing. I decided I wasn't feeling the gray I had going, and I wanted a flat paint scheme anyways, so I spent yesterday re-painting my XJ on the exterior this time. Also put on a proline roof rack and some fog light housings for now, as well as some grip tape on the lower doors for a rhino-lined look (wasn't sure if I would love it, so I went stick on for now), and cut the axial sliders up for a more slim slider, which I really think looks great. Anyways, hope you enjoy the progress, although I would never know since it seems like I am the only one reading this thread sometimes, hahahaha!

Some pics of the new crawl spot (prior to re-paint)

And some pics of the new paint! Haven't been able to run it outside yet due to the crappy rainy weather we are having, and lack of motivation, lol.

I am heading up to the mountains with a buddy on a snow run this weekend in the 1:1, and you can bet the scx will be in the back "thumbsup"
