So I just realized I haven't binded a radio yet without an esc already being calibrated (I'm old so crystals used to power my RCs :shock:)

All Wizardry aside, how does one do this? do you plug everything up as you would normally then 1) BIND radio and 2) calibrate ESC?

Should I take the wheels off first so my turk doesn't take off and destroy my potions?

ESC= HW 1080 W/programmable box
Radio= Futaba 3PL

help an old wizard please

Setting up my electronics is the part of this hobby that I dislike the most!
Having said that, Yes the TX and the RX need to be talking to each other before you can calibrate the esc. If your concerned about your truck taking off during the process either remove your pinion, or even easier, just put your truck on a car stand so the wheels aren't touching anything. "thumbsup"

Harley has a great thread in electronics about setting up Futaba radios. Hope that helps you get your truck on the rocks! ;-)

I hate the way castle esc fans run and do odd stuff when the radio is not bound or while binding a radio. Taught me to be prepared and move quick......

Yikes, I found Harley's thread... I think I'm just gonna use some sort of stand to bind and hopefully figure out all the "dialing in" on the trails...lol thanks Ernie!

I made a super simple car stand using 2x3 lumber. Two lengths stood up, and one between screwed together using 2.5"deck screws and bam!

The 1080 works great out of the box btw

That looks like a great stand for storage too. Prevents flat spots on tires. I have mine on battery and esc boxes right now. Too cheap to drop $20 on the CI bricks.
