Ok, ive been thinkin bout this n wondered if anybody else is/has done this. I know u wanna keep the CG down low. But has any of yall done the shoegoo/drywall mesh mod to the body? It doesnt add much weight, but wat lil it does puts it up high. Im in the midst of buildin my 1st crawler n wondered how much it would effect it? Im buildin an axial scx10.2. Ive got scx10 axles, HR 313mm links, traxxas xl5 esc, rc4wd 35t brushed motor, 1.55 white wagon wheels with rc4wd super swampers. Tryin to decide on what body i wanna go with. I love the older fords, but i kinda like the honcho too. Thinkin maybe either the 68 or 79 ford cab from vaterra with the honcho bed, or even the tamiya f350. Still have a few things to do yet, but for a noob buildin from scratch, wat yall think? Now, im not a noob to rc, i do have a few traxxas trucks. Just gettin into the crawler scene too

I have done body repairs with the shoegoo, and drywall mesh method. It holds up very well. In my opinion I would run the rig as is (unless you just plan to thrash it) and not sacrifice the performance loss due to the added top weight. True it isn't much weight (adds up quick though) but every little bit decreases performance.

Thats kinda wat i was thinkin. I dont plan to thrash it at all lol. I know theres goina b roll overs n tumbles, thats y i ask. Thanks for the response, i appreciate it!

Unlike go fast rigs. Crawlers are very easy on bodies.

Lexan bodies last several years if not folded over and stepped on lol.

To answer your question, Its not nessacery on scale rigs, even the thinner J concepts bodies last a long time, and the thicker MT bodies last nearly forever without any reinforcement.

Thats good to know. Im lookin at the tamiya f350 body for my scx10.2 build,so it should last a long time. Thanks for the info yall
