I have seen many pictures of plastic parts with brass inserts for 3mm screws, can someone point me to a supplier, I believe there was someone here selling them at one point but I can find it.

Thank You

I found some M3 kits on eBay, the kits are averaging $30 and twenty loose helicoils are around $16, more than twice the price of inserts, McMaster-Carr $11 for 50 pieces but they always get you with shipping so it kind of ends up the same. the advantage of the helicoils is that you don't need to drill a 4mm hole for the inserts, it only requires 3.1mm which helps if you have very little material around the hole.

I'd like to see this 3mm heli-coil and 3.1mm threader. Or does it thread it self into the plastic? Have a link?

WOW, it's for real. Very cool. Expensive, but cool. It would work with some applications as long as the tap does not bottom out before it threads. I guess you could Dremel off some of the tip on the tap.

They make taps for closed end holes called bottoming taps, it's basically just a flat ended tap so that it starts threading immediately unlike the pointed style. Something like this one:
