Brushed vs Brushless

That is what mine was doing and I thought it was the worms or the spools but it was the ESC.Mine would act like it was bound up but it was not,the ESC was lit up and the motor sounded like it wanted to go but it would not go without f/r throttle or wide open.I think my ESC is the same one as yours but it is a China made copy not Traxxas. This drove me nuts and I thought the drive line was bad.Now with the ESC motor wires reversed the only problem I have is reverse which I try not to use.

Could be the system needed more power than the ESC could provide. The TRX ESC is not a very good ESC for high performance applications. While crawling is going slow it still requires a stout ESC. The internal BEC is probably not able to keep up either which will affect overall ESC performance as well.

Sounds to me that in one sentence you are happy with your setup but in the other you aren't. Get an ESC that will allow you to use up to 3s lipo and a bec then you will see a big difference.

starterbox motor huh? ill have to try that. i have another LCC im putting together from parts and i dont want to put more money into another brushless system. ill keep that in my comp rig

Yea i love it. I havent had any problems out of the motor or anything. I am haveing a problem with the 2 axles not running exactly the same speed and when it gets to a certain point it will bind. Then i can ether hit the dig real quik or barely tap reverse to fix it. LOL when it binds it looks like an old hunch back. Maxxes the suspention out and stops. oh well i have 3 friends running the same set up but running brushless that it does the same thing. Guess it just one of those things I have to watch for.

Tekin FXR

Put my new FXR in today and without any changes besides installing the ESC The Losi now crawls at less than half the low speed than before. The max speed is now 1/10 MPH faster measured on a pro treadmill.I could gear up a few teeth and still crawl very slow.I have always heard the Tekin ESCs were good and this one gets a thumbs up.I wish my Momba max pro could modulate low power like this but now it is in my Blitz ESE with a 4600kv and works great there. The mix of the Trinity Monster maxx 550 and FXR works great and I will have a Monster maxx pro 17t handwound this week and will update.Updated 17T Monster maxx pro hand wound is much more powerfull than I would have thought.Picked up 6/10 MPH with same pinion gear and now crawls even slower without any bogging.I can use the throttle trim to go super slow and it goes right up my climbing wall without slowing down. Both ESC and motor cool after 20 min crawl.

Amp test.

Did a heavy load amp test with my Eagle tree data logger on the same somewhat binding climbing surface.1st test was Trinity Monstermaxx 550 21t which pulled 30.1 amps at 238 watts.2nd was Trinity Monstermaxx 550 17t handwound which did 40.59 amps at 308 watts.I did not write it down but from memory the Titan 550 21t did about 23 amps in the same situation.

Man I want one of those handwound 17 turns.

Thanks for the info. "thumbsup"

I searched everywhere and could only find them at Graves RC hobbies for $54.99 let me know if you find them elsewhere.I would like to have a spare.EeePee do you do motor service like comm cutting ETC.

Well, there was one at Grave's, but it's gone now.

I don't care to deal with shipping things, so I don't offer motor services, unless you're local.

I believe Holmes Hobbies and Team Br00d do.

Thanks I might pick up another one for a spare and sell the others, this motor rocks. The only bad thing about this is the 212 gm weight but that is less than an ounce more that I can live with.Motor and ESC have stayed cool through several full packs."thumbsup"I forgot the Tekin FXR is more than an ounce lighter so a little more weight down low and a lot less weight up top.
