Brushless TXT

Hey guys i might be picking up a txt from a buddy and was wondering how well it'd handle a bl/lipo setup...i am looking to do it all with it...hillclimbing,mud bogging,and just general passes with a few low level jumps

so what would you guys suggest?

I have had good luck with the Traxxas Velineon brushless system. The only complaint I have is the ESC is friggin huge! It has a nice power band and makes a good amount of torque. I am using 1 in my Jammin CRT.5 conversion and love it.

Only issue I can see is the stock trans will not be happy if you run a big outrunner motor.

I broke trans gears with a 3014 Crawlmaster and a 6 cell NiMh battery pack. I break even more with a 3S lipo and a 10T puller.

Wouldn't reccomend the TXT for a high speed truck at all, it's very top heavy and won't handle great. Also I don't think the stock tranny would hold up to a high powered brushless.

with the axles unlocked, the txt is a great monster truck and very durable, especially when you consider the design is over 10 years old.

locked axles do create more stress, especially when you talk about jumping it.

there is no slipper to soak up the drivetrain shock, part of that 10 year old design, and parts are getting to be hard to get.

as an open diff basher it will work until you break something they don't make anymore

as a locked diff crawler it will work until you break something they don't make anymore

the differece in the crawler end is rc4wd make some parts that you break crawling.
last time I looked rpp or tower carried transmission gears.

but as with anything, if the price is right, run it for all its worth.

I am putting two Titan 550's and an EVX from the new 16.8 volt e-maxx in my txt and running dual 6 cell packs, I should have it finished up today and test driving tomorrow. it is pretty much stock except for bearings, alum knuckles, alum shocks and 23mm adapters with velocity wheels and crimefighters. The truck has been lowered and the suspension travel has been limited...I will let you know how it turns out

I ran my TXT-1 with the first release of the Novak HV-Maxx a few years ago. I had to replace one gear in the center transmission but it ran well after that. It was very fast with two 6 cell packs and great fun. If you keep with a "tame" brushless you'll find it runs well.

The ball ends on the four links used to pop off after big jumps but it was an easy fix. You can also grab a carbon fiber radio tray for easy installation of the electronics from xtreme racing (I think). Hee's a link to my recent txt build:

I have a TXT Crawler with a R2HD tranny and a Novak Goat system "thumbsup"

I love it

I know you are most likely bolting this two a stock tranny and gear setup
so in that case im sure the goat would do wonders but dont have insite

I have a TXT-1 thats Brushless.
Runs a Mtroniks 600 size motor, a nice waterproof torqie 3000kv setup.
On a 6 cell 5000 mah pack and a 22 tooth pinion I can get 20mph and 20 minute run times.

To lower the Center of Gravity I clocked the tranny, and mounted the battery lower than stock.

The stock Ball Ends suck, replaced with Team Associated MGT Ball Ends.

And I added Aluminum 4 link mounts, and Aluminum shocks.

No breakage, parts are very easy to get still.

I just tore it down to make some more refined changes, switched to a 17 tooth pinion, will get some pictures up in a week or so.
