My girlfriend planned a vacation to NY and, among other things, we are going to be doing a bobsled experience. I'm super excited yet nervous for this one. But it got me thinking that I would like to take a cheap action cam along for the trip. I want something that can record in 4K at a high framerate, but I also don't want to worry too much about losing it. It's something I'll probably use for this trip and not again for another year or so and for that reason I don't want to spend too much. I also don't want to deal with overheating cameras (looking at you GoPro). Thoughts? What's the hot new budget action cam?

DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro or 6, or Insta360 X5 - Waterproof 8K

Thanks, but out of those the cheapest seems to be $319. I was hoping for something cheaper.

A few years back I had a Xiaomi Yi and that was awesome for around $100. Wondering if there are similar Chinese cameras out there these days.

No clue. i know the ones i listed are good. The guy that video's our bike rides has them attached to his bike.

I looked at them before I started my project at home (I was looking at the time lapse). There were many in the $40-60 range that all looked really similar and had the same features.

I have a little CamPark 4k action camera, it's fairly alright. The exposure is usually a touch too high and the vibrance is really low, but it's a decent cheap camera. Comes with attachments n stuff too. Iirc it used to be on Amazon for like $30-$50, it's been a few years since I looked though.

AKASO V50. Just picked one up on Amazon and it works fine. Comes with a ton of accessories and 2 batteries - mine was $59 though it was on special. There are cheaper and more expensive versions, this one does way more than I need.

I had looked at the ek7000 pro. I didn’t end up buying anything, didn’t want to drop anymore unnecessary coin after the house project.
