carbon rods

Since I starting my crawler soon I was looking for materials to make links out of. Here:http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?pid=7628&step=4&showunits=inches I found some stressproof 1/4 carbon rod (not cf). What I was woundering was does any one else use these an if so how strong are they?
I did do some searches and found some results but I was not sure if they were talking about cf or cabon

arent carbon rods used on arrows? i've read a thread somewhere about using old arrows and using them as links. if they are the same then its possible to use, right? :roll:

i havent had much luck with arrow links. others have had great luck, but mine always pull apart or snap like twigs. i just ordered some alum tube to make some new links.

Not all arrows are hollow. The carbon arrow shafts are solid. And someone here did make a set of links out of carbon arrow shafts.

I've used 1/4" carbon push rods in a free flight glider before. They were hollow and they had some flex but not much. I'm sure solid rods would have a high breaking point but still would slightly flex under pressure

carbon arrows are not solid, they are hollow. i have used carbon arrows for links before and they break to easy. they worked good for the stearing links because they are light.
