Chassis Tow Strap Points

I was inspired to make some chassis tow strap/rope attachment points becuase of the Nor-Cal scale comp. Rule #4 is that if you roll over your partner truck needs to roll you back over if your unable to do it yourself....

so going into a comp with no where to attach a tow strap is pretty stupid.

I used the TLT axle link mounts.

small and can be placed pretty much anywhere on your chassis

rope hook/shackle
need a shackle to attach the rope to the chassis. It's a small mountain climbing shackle, used for a key chain or a crawler hook. I also went an extra step and added a fishing swivle, overkill? yes. cool, yes!

yeah it doesn't look scale but it's very practicle, Easy to attach and un-hook and won't un-hook itself. If I find smaller shackles I will get them.

ready for the comp. It would be a good idea if everyone in the comp group would have the same attachment points so there would be no fumbling around trying to find a spot.

good idea, and the vehicle looks real.. i actually double glanced caz at first i just scanned for pics lol...

I'd have one in the middle on back and front. If you need to pull straight you won't be able to.

Couldn't he just have a smaller strap connecting to both sides and then connecting the tow strap to the middle?

I know this is probably a really bad idea in 1:1, but for 2.2's I don't think it would be a problem.

Hmm..... sounds like a fun rule.... looks at TSC.... "where can I put some tow hooks?" I still want to rig up a winch for my truck.

Ace hardware has TONS of cool things for this type of a project. They have small shackles (like the exhaust clamps/shackles), tons of nylon ropes or chains in small sizes. Its just chaulked full of stuff like that. I'll probably do the mods after the small scale crawl off, since I need to send a "stock" truck. I also want to make a strap attachment for this crawl spot I found. its got 20-40 foot cliffs, so I want to make it so if I roll it off an obstacle, and it tumbles towards a cliff, it's attached to my belt or something and that way I don't lose it down the cliffs.

Question for you. You said your partner truck has to pull you out. Does that mean you need another truck, or do you pair up with other people at the begining of the comp or what?

Hopefully everyone will have a partner at the event.

When I was building my ORCRC Team Trials rig I had a couple of these, one for the front and one for the rear.
