a lot of the extremists do plan to marry, at least the ones i've met. marriage is the central issue here, and the extreme community tends to take any publicity (this applies to any extremist community, look at the westboro baptist church). and agreed on missing the point really, it shouldn't have gotten to the point that this incident is the reason for the protest....a similar protest at state capitol buildings would send the point to the right people instead of giving the media a field day.
and been married to a woman once, was great until she went completely batshit after joining the military. marriage is an act really, legally its a big thing though. for 2 men or 2 women that love each other to be denied a marriage is wrong when you look at how easy it is for a man and a woman to get married (looking at the vegas chapels here). also, celebrity marriages that last a month, people that get married to get money when the older kicks off....just ridiculous what is allowed and what is not.
