I've seen mostly weathered and rusted out finishes ... has anyone done 3M clear film to keep the new-car shine?

My goal is to protect against scratches on roll-overs, with the ability to hopefully peel it off when it gets thrashed.

Am I crazy??

I don't know how strong the clear film is. But would it prevent the rocks from scratching through that film when the weight of an RC falls on it? Also, it's going to add weight to the body and hurt your performance.

I was just thinking this yesterday. I believe I seen someone do this on their H10 Origin but can't remember where.

I've seen vinyl wraps on hard bodies; works exactly as you describe. I've not seen someone do clear, the tough part would be not pulling paint off when you remove it.

You are suggesting that to clear vinyl a polycarbonate body? It would help with scratches but may not do much for creases and cracks. Depends on how hard you are on your trucks I suppose.

In theory, you could polish out scratches on your polycarbonate body as well.

Vittoreo from VP did ppf on his Origin. Posted a video getting pretty rowdy with it a week or so back on ig. It'll still scratch through on a good hit, protects better than not having it. Brandon peeled a section of the ppf off during the VP live stream last week.

To me it seems like a lot of effort to get a few less scratches.

That's the video I seen. Not much give with the aluminum.

There are protective "wraps" like they use for "clear bras" on a car or the headlights protectors, that are pretty durable and thich.........n heavy

The best solution for scratches that I've found is to weather the body and to accept the scratches as badges of honor. That way scratches add to the look instead of taking away from it.

Over time a weathered body doesnt really get any worse where as a pristine shiny paint job only lasts so long and it will look worse and worse over time.

Also get your beauty shots in before your first run.

You could always buy two bodies, one for rocks and the other for beauty shoots. Like mentioned the scratches always find a way to get in there. Unless you don't drive it at all

Yeah, that's probably the move. I learned that the hard way with my X-Maxx ...

3m and others make sheets / rolls of adhesive, clear protectant film. I've utilized it on my Mountain Bikes in high contact areas. Lot's of options to chose from on Amazon.
