matt

You posted a yes or no poll, hows that going to work?

Also.... this is in the Clod Buster forum.... you'll get everyone saying Clod in here

yes,i have heard from alot of clod owners that one motor will stall out and send the power to the other motor. i don't like that idea, so that's kinda why i stick to shafted trucks. the TXT is a great crawler out of the box and has a center tranny. so that will put power equally to the front and rear..

so i vote yes on TXT and NO on a CLOD..

BTW- you do need to fix your poll....but if thats the way you want it..i vote NO.. so go get an Emaxx :flipoff:

it was my first poll decided to try a poll on this one
also what about a tlt its either tlt txt or a clod

The TLT is small, biggest tires I'd run on them axles would be a 2.2

It's also much, much easier to alter gear ratios with a TXT than a Clod. Bolting up a gear reduction unit to a TXT tranny is a piece of cake.

It sounds like you really have no idea on what you want to get. I say sit back, research all the ones you like. See what you can afford, as a stocker and modded to the point you'd like.

1st question you should ask yourself is" how good can i do fab work?"

from what i have seen on this and other boards is that Clod owners buy a truck and completely tear it apart and basically just use the axles and fab everything else up to have a good crawler. or they just buy axles from places like Thundertech and then still build the rest.

as to where i have seen people with TXTs just do little stuff to them( except for that Dirk Digler guy- he just has too much money and time :flipoff: ) and they can go wherevr a Clod does. but like Toyo said, search, search and search some more and find out the goods and bads on both and decide. the TXT is a little more expensive, but remember ya get what ya pay for

that is very true but theres some guy on here who loves nitro trucks and and has a really modded clod that i might trade him my nitro for so i might get that then be rockcrawling when i get it

I voted yes, you should get a Clod or TXT.

Clod's make great crawlers, yes they have some disadvantages when compared to a driveshaft truck. Are you gonna be competing? If not, a clod makes a fine crawlers to go out with yer friends. Ace has a driveshaft truck, custom worm gear axles, perfect steering, great gearing, and our rigs are equal in 95% of the stuuf we have crawled on. Sometimes he has an advantage but sometimes mine does.
Watch for the results from this weekends competition to see how my Clod compares to Digler's truck. I may get whooped, we'll see.

TXT's are great too but they have disadvantages too. Out of the box you will suffer from low center clearance, bad gearing, and torque lift of the left front tire when climbing. All these can be fixed but my point is they both (Clods and TXTs) need work to be great crawlers.

You need to decide what you want but since you asked my opinion: get a Clod. :D

well i want a clod but ive heard its not good for crawing because of the seperate motors is it true if one motor is under more stress it will stall and if it does how do u get it working again
matt

Yes, climbing steep stuff sometimes the rear motor will stall and only the front will spin. Then you back up a little and roll into the bump with a little momentum. You should watch Mudcow in the videos real closely, JK does that alot. :D Theres nothing wrong with it, you just got to get used to it.

I say get a Traxxas 4-Tech.
Or...perhaps an RC Helicopter.

With the 4 Tech, you could just go over rocks at 53mph. You'd never "time out" on an obsticle.
With the helicopter, you could just hover over the rocks and never even touch them!!! You'd be the king of the rocks!!!!!!
