Col_Sanders Builds of 2025

Jesse from Hot Springs Scale Crawlers did a hell of a job this year and got all kinds of sponsors. Holmes Hobbies, AMain, Punks 3d, Shift RC, 3 Brothers, RC4WD, and more. The prize table was huge. I got first pick on both sides since I got first in both classes. We all got multiple trips to the table.

The beekeeper/yellowjacket combo and punks anarchist chassis were my first choices, but i took a t- shirt for my second trip. Even after my third trip up there, some good servos and stuff was up on the table. I got more than what is pictured but i gave some away and some is still packed up. 20250928_105844.jpgMaybe I'll build a mullet? Ive already got a set of ar45 straights and portals.

This is a video from one of our local media guys. He's partnered up with Brian (Nomad Creations) who paints the good looking bodies a lot of us run. He posts videos from most of our comps. A little smack talk at the beginning about me and my partner. 😄

Something I thought was interesting after this run is efficiency. Both trucks were running identical gens ace 2200mah packs and were running at an identical pace. At the end of the run, the vrd carbon had 43% charge remaining and the stance had 60%. The electronics are different on both trucks and the stance is only running the 21% od in the transmission, while the carbon is running the 21% in the transmission and has the underdrive ring and pinion in the rear so ~31% total underdrive.

That is interesting.

What are the differences in motor/esc? Same pinion on each motor?

Carbon has a 3 Brothers Beekeeper with Holmes Crawlmaster 2300kv, Castle BEC 2.0, NSDRC RS650 steering servo, Reefs IS300 winch, and a 3 Brothers Atlas rear winch. Stance is running a Fusion Pro, Shift XLP winch, Shift X2 steering servo. I dont remember the gearing on the Carbon, but Stance has 15t pinion, 52t spur. The Carbon did use rear winch 3 times, but it was just to drop down a ledge and there wasnt really any load on it. Aside from that, we winched through the same obstacles in the same manner.

I would guess that the added drag from the additional od contributed, but I've also found the fusion seems pretty efficient.

I was thinking the Fusion was the main reason for the difference. Really looking forward to getting the Elite in here. Hopefully it comes in before the end of the month.

Last week I switched over to a reefs 300is winch on the Poizd and added an 100is winch for the rear. Also installed a Castle bec and switched over to the new Reefs Scrubs with Dlux foams.

I drove to OK for a comp this morning. We draw running order and of course I drew first on both classes. Kinda sucks not being able to see anyone else run but it is what it is. Out of 14 drivers, I got 4th in C2. Only 3 of us competed in C1 but I got first.

The Scrubs did great. The Dlux foams did nit fold over and held on some pretty steep side hill. The tires are definitely soft and sticky.

Next weekend is a local event called Rock the Ozarks. Lots of different rc activities go on...boats, planes, dirt drags, dirt oval, long jump, a couple comps, and a TTC. Got a little work to do to get ready.

First up was getting the stance back to TTC mode. Out with the Fusion Pro, winch, and Spektrum rx. In goes a Castle Slate 2850, a Copperhead, and Flysky waterproof rx. Now she's ready for a 4s beat down.

Man that event sounds like a blast! I want to see the long jump competition! What is TTC again?

Tough Truck Challenge. Mud, water, rock, etc. It's his third year running this event. Not really enough crawler terrain to keep you busy for too long but there are other things to do.

After trip report... got 2nd in the morning comp with a -39 (best possible score is -40). The winning run was a -40 and he rolled over 3 times but was able to self right after a lot of struggle. It was wild. I got 1st in the ttc with my stance and 1st in the 25 gate night comp. The Scrubs and crown foams are working great. I won a FMS Canyon and a Reefs 888 in the raffle along with some other cool stuff.

I tried rotating this Pic both ways on my phone and the forum still flips it upside down.

That's odd about the photo! That's a sweet score you won though. Lots of money there. I love those Meus wheels! Oh and that skull trophy is cool.
