Comcast Wants To Turn Home Routers Into Public Wi-Fi Hotspots

I would take the word of a tech over anybody on the phone.

7 different people on the phone with no fix to my problem. Took one tech person to fix my problem....

Well, been having connection issues with my iphone and ipad when I come home from work on a daily basis. Then I read this thread and noticed I too had a new WiFi SSID showing up that was XfinityWiFi, so I just got on a chat session with a "Tech" and had him opt me out since I could not find it on my account. And No Chit!! As soon as he had it off I could get back on!! instantly!!

I pay a chit ton for my cable and internet, my supposed speeds are top tier and I had to beg for my WiFi to be un-highjacked!?!?!? Insane Comcast!!

To all fellow RCCer's Disable that crap and get your connections back!!

Do you know if your old AT&T account was PPOE? With Comcast, make sure your WAN interface on your router is set to DHCP and it does not require a username and password.

I dont have comcast or AT&T. I was referencing that a friend that got comcast setup and could not get any wifi to work even after placing a known working 3rd party router.

Im an AT&T field tech, I have a competitor's dsl service due to living outside AT&T market area. I had an AT&T dsl account my parents place years ago (motorola 2210 with white rectangular router). That 2210 crapped out so they went to AT&T Uverse 2 yrs ago.
