I have several futaba 9452 coreless digital servos that I was wondering if they are better than the stock servo on my traxxas trx4 sport truck?

Welcome! 2075x servo model?

Your futaba is rated at 9.2kg and .11sec
The Traxxas comes in at 9kg and .17 sec

Better? Maybe a tiny little bit but more reliable I would say but not waterproof. Use them till you burn them out or get tired and want a bit more umph when turning. Modern servos are cheap and provide more oz/lb or kg/cm. Their speed has not really increased but that’s okay you want the torque when turning the wheels.

If your TRX4 still has the stock Traxxas servo, then yes. That Futaba servo should drop right in and your existing servo horn will mount right up. It's a little weak (torque) for a crawler servo, but it will certainly work.

Enjoy your TRX4!

Welcome to the site!

Traxxas servos are very weak because they have plastic gears. The Futaba in question will fit your TRX-4. It also has metal gears so it will hold up better than the stock servo. With that being said, the torque is low so it will struggle to turn the big tires of your TRX-4. There are much better options these days since servo manufacturers have started making crawler-specific high-torque servos. If you give us a budget then we can happily help you choose a more suitable servo.

Here's a popular servo for just over $30: Amazon You can also spend well over $100 on a high-end servo. There are many, many options out there these days.

WELCOME!!!

The TRX4 is an excellent rig, very well built, with lots of aftermarket support. In stock form, it does have two major issues where Traxxas could have done better. The first one is with the ESC's BEC, 1A is just not enough power for everything that is going on. You can get the add-on BEC, but it is a bit sleazy, in my opinion, to charge another $40 for something the truck should already come with.

The second thing is the steering servo. The stock servo is only rated to 120oz (~8.5kg), which has barely enough power to turn the wheels, and certainly not enough to turn them with any real authority, especially when your steering gets bound up on rocks. Adding in the plastic gears, the stock servo will fail. The servo Jato linked is an excellent upgrade for the TRX4, bumping up the torque to almost 500oz. For this servo, you will want a BEC with provides at least 3amps. If you do not plan on replacing the ESC, recommend getting the BEC upgrade kit, which is, for the most part, plug-n-play.

Thanks for the info. I think I will sell them on eBay. However, I have 3 BK7001 servos that I will swap out the traxxas one. Also have a Rockstar tail servo that is .065/60 150 tourqe Let u know how it works.

Almost forgot, I have a 2021 ford bronco trx4 in layaway. Getting it soon. I’m going to trick out both trucks. Have light kits for both coming. Put rock lights on the toyota

Post up pics of your trucks as soon as you can!
