Copycat rig

Very nice chassis, I've been daydreaming about making something like that since I first saw the 'other' one. I really like the bodiless design. Nice curves too!

Did you weigh the bare chassis before building it up?

Is it legal size for comps?

Cheers.

On the first post you can see how it was when I weighed it & yes once I finish the side panels it will be comp legal.

Specs:

weight= 168 grams
length= 9.75"
height= 3.8"
width= 3.25"

Thank you all so much for your input & support on this & past projects.

If I can find a solution for the drive train I will post my new build, a 6x6!

I need a 3mm hpi reduction box shaft adapted to a 5mm driveshaft so I can use an axial trans as a divorced transfer case. Does anyone have a source for an adapter like this?

Even though the build is... well ya know pretty close to the SPV2, you did a stunning job and you definately put your own flavor on it. Who knows people may start adding some bend here and there to the SPV2 chassis and copying you. :ror::shock:

I really enjoy seeing people grab some aluminum and go to work doing something by hand. Good job.

Nice build... I have the SPV2 and really like it. Your twist on it, addition or whatever you want to call it are pretty cool. Hats off to ya for making something work for you.

You said early on the post that you did not know which you liked more building or driving. I am in the same boat. I am not that great of a driver. Figured rolling off rocks would give a better reason for me being on my lid all the time. :ror:

How did the shock mounting points work out for you?

I seem to get a little binding from the top of the shock. Due to no ball mount, I am guess. I did however fix it for the mean time with a section of rubber on the mounting screws.

Peace

The Roadtech shocks that I use have balls on both top & bottom which is why I use them, no binding issues.
