Createx Paint

Is anyone using Createx paint on their crawler bodies? I have some and was wondering if it would adhere to the lexan very well. The rattle can stuff I bought at Hobbytown didn't stick very well.

Createx paint is exactly the same as the Faskolor brand sold at hobby shops for Lexan bodies. Faskolor simply puts their own label on the bottles. They are both water based paints, and work best when sprayed with an airbrush. I have used both, and find thay stick to lexan very well, but like all paint, you need to really clean the body prior to painting.

Good to know, thank you. I washed the last body with dish soap really well before painting it but it has been flaking off terribly. Spending as much time on my lid as I do on the wheels probably doesn't help though, lol.

I'm a complete newb to this type of painting. I've been coating firearms with a Badger 350 for several years and just bought an Iwata last week. Figured I'd grab a few bottles of Createx to play with and didn't even consider that I might be able to put a decent paint job on a body. Might being the key word there, lol.

I use createx for my bodies with no issues what so ever. I just back it with Krylon Fusion white in the end to keep it durable. Supposidly auto air is a better paint(same company as createx) but createx is easier to find locally for me.

What do you guys recommend as prep before spraying. I'd like to spend a bit more time on my next body and try to make it look nice and I don't want it to chip off like my last attempt.

SPAZSTIX has a prep spray that you can use that works great. i use dish soap then i spray the SPAZSTIX alcohol based prep to ensure a strong bond, even after you lay down a color and pull the mask off you can spray a little bit on the clear area before spraying the next color to get the small stuff left by the mask. use the codes in my signature to get them cheap."thumbsup"

When using Createx...or FastKolor....or Auto Air (all made by Createx) it needs to be backed up (lexan) or a base laid down first (styrene) to bring out the true color. White or black bases will give ya a different top coat color, depending on the color used, especially true with candies, pearls and sparcklescence.

Yeah, Auto Air has better tip dry resistance but for spraying RC shells, it's way overkill. Just plain Createx or whichever brand you like is plenty good.

What do you guys back your createx/autoa air/etc with? Just a layer of white or back it with a lexan specific paint? I just use krylon fusion semi gloss white

I use Auto Air base sealer....either white or the dark gray.

ive used createx with great success.
I always wash the body with the rougher side of the sponge(Green side) It scuffs up the body and you cant see the scuffing when its painted. just dont scuff up the window areas.

then I back it up with white silver or black depending on my color shceme.
