Hi all,

About to start fabbing a new chopping board chassis for my 1/18 crawler (HSP Kulak). The standard screws are M2, but im confused on if they are machine or self tapping threads.

What is the best option to choose? I already have a M2 tap, do I need to use it?

Also, any opinions on the chassis design?

I've used that exact same material several times and I'll drill the hole smaller than what you'd need. Then use a screw driver the open it up just enough to get the first couple threads to start. Then it'll self tap themselves.

Sweet!
What about ball studs? Should I thread or just go through and use a nut on the backside?

Should be a m2 x .4 pitch thread. Assuming that cutting board is probably high density polyethylene you can probably just drill a hole and have the m2 self tap it. But if you already have an m2 tap go ahead and use it. Use a 1/16" drill bit or a #52 wire guage drill bit

Your ball studs if the same as the Everest 16 should be an m3. I used an m3 tap and threaded it directly into my ecx servo mounts with no issues. Should be fine on hpde plastic... Just be careful not to tighten it to tight as to not strip out your threads.
