is there a difference between a dana 60 ford and a dana 60 chevy front end or are they the same i wasnt sure lol thanks

The Chevy should be a passenger side pumpkin and the Ford a driver side.I think the outer assemblies(axle c's outward) are a bit different as well but don't quote me on that.

Yeah, the bible on Pirate will tell you all you wanted to know. Generally speaking, Fords are driver side drop, Chevys are passenger side drop, and Dodge has used both (older=passenger, newer=driver). I believe most all are ball joint except for the '78-'79 Ford, which used king pins. Chevy and Dodge may have used king pins at some point, but I can't say for sure.

There are a few differences but in general
Ford: high pinion, drivers drop, kingpin and ball joint, dual piston calipers, 35 spline inners, 30 spline outers
Chevy: low pinion, passenger drop, kingpin, stronger knuckles, single piston calipers, 35 spline inners, 30 spline outers

Mainly the outer assembly. You can swap over Chevy outers from the outer stub outward onto a Ford axle (obviously as long as they are both ball joint or KP)...and vise versa. I believe the distance from the knuckle pivot outward on the knuckle is a different length..meaning you can only use the Ford outer stubs with a Ford knuckle...and the Chevy stubs with a Chevy knuckle.

It's a pretty popular swap to take a Ford that has the huge dual piston brakes...and install all Chevy outer componants so you can run Chevy brakes (smaller).

I have a Ford HD44 I am working on that has those big ass dual piston calipers...and I'm debating whether to just rebuy stock parts and run a 17" wheel...or swap over to Chevy parts and stick with a 16" wheel...

Anyone wanting to do work on any Dana axle should read the bible :)
