diff clicking, pinion slipping

I never had any trouble with these difs, until the third truck now. I am getting some bad slipping from one of the diffs (Maybe two, but I need to make the front stop so I can hear if the rear is doing it as well).

I opened it up, very small amount of shaving, and I installed all new bearings and a Traxxas shim behind the pinion, but it's still doing it.

Help me out, what can be done?

I moved one of the plantaries to the center to mechanically lock them. The shavings were outside the dif, inside the axle housing, indicating a ring and pinion mesh problem.

mine did the same thing in my rear i just shimed it and it was fineif you take the gears out when you fully mesh them do they have a good mesh or is it week because you might need a new pinion or ring. if you wanted to you could try to put a thicker shim in:?:  dont know if it will work never tryed to. hope this helps"thumbsup"

I've stripped three ring and pinions in the rear of mine in the past year. Haven't went through one in the front yet but always keep spare gears because in know they're going to strip at some point. I shim the diff. gear but when I put one on the pinion but the mesh is too tight. It's pretty good like it is. So I drilled small holes in the front and rear of both axles so I can put oil in them. I'm running Mobil 1 synth. that I use in my car. Got a 1 cc syringe to put oil in. I figures it can't hurt to have some kind of lubrication for the gears. At least they should last a bit longer than without. Will probably switch and use Lucas oil. It's a little thicker.

I had shimmed the rear pinion before I posted originally, but still heard clicking. Turns out that the front was just as bad. I shimmed it up and slopped some Losi grease I had around and the noises are gone.

Odd, I've never had to shim them before...
