Sorry guys in advance, im unable to use the search function BUT I did read alot of pages of the tips and tricks, all 8, the must haves and alot of build threads...

Im just getting into my dads ax10 and was curious about the brake, or lack there of. I know my losi stock esc has two modes one which gradually slows the rig down and the other which truely locks it up... now with the ax10's esc there is no programming button or option, how do I get the brake effect? What do I need to do/ buy to get that option, do I need a new esc? Or is there a trick I don't see...

ONCE AGAIN I AM SORRY, I REALLY SPENT AN HOUR RESEARCHING AND READING. AND THIS IS TO HELP MY DADS RIG OUT.... he has to throttle at all times to stay on hill or it wants to roll back some

No worries, what type of losi? Does it have the worm drive? Because it doesn't need a drag.
What type of esc is it that is on the axial? The first one(ea-1 i think its called?) doesn't really have a drag at all, the newer one I think does or you'll have to buy another esc like a fxr or mamba max or something similar.

Yeah my lnc has them... but it also has a setting that locks it up as soon as you let off... but it jerks the car to a hard stop...

And the ax10 is the first run esc... I think, it doesn't have any program buttons on it, it just has on and off switch, ok so it is the esc though that applies a brake effect not allowing the gears and axle to free spin?.. I know I could call my hobby shops tomorrow but what would a decent esc go for... not looking for the best but something that will work for now...

Meaning were not running lipos or brushless... he's got a 27 turn axial motor on it weighted wheels working the 4 link and lcc shocks with gold springs... any more help or tips much appreciated...

Yes the esc does the braking for the motor, and since you have enough posts, check out the for sale section and see if there are any fxr's or what not, or post up in the wanted section.
