Driveshaft, you are the WEAKEST LINK

First run with a 3S, my friend's kid tore up the driveshaft on my Yeti Score TT. I assume this was only a matter of time... I know there are upgrades from MIP and SSD - what are the pros/cons? Will non-TT Axial driveshafts fit the TT?

its just the wild boar style driveshafts that axial utilizes across their vehicle line. The TT and rock racer versions both utilize the same driveshafts I believe. What exactly got thrashed?

Yeah, I think you're right. The center spline twisted a little bit and the rear end where it mates with the squared off driveshaft coupler was completely torn up. I think it was because we were running it on asphalt on a hot day (it was like 97 or so), and my kid's friend probably did a full-reverse-to-full-forward move. With all that traction, the plastic basically shredded. I'm going to get a new WB8-HD driveshaft set, but I saw that the SSD and MIP upgrades are both available from RPP Hobby.

Does anyone have a preference between the two?

No preference, but my MIP shaft has held up fine so far.

No issues with the stock wb8 drivesaftes so far. And im running only 3s high power systems in my little monster.
Only lost 2 middle splines as my rod ends broke on the ssd trailing arms in some hugh tumbles. But i will stay with them cause it's my weak spot in the rear easy and cheeps to repair.
In some thread are complains about the MIPS.
Love my ssd parts so i would go ssd If i ever decide to change the shafts.

My MIP is holding up well, strictly run on 46"thumbsup"

Nice. I bought a replacement WB8 but if it happens again I'm going with metal driveshaft and links. I think I'll be OK as long as I don't let my friends' kids bash around on 3S :-D

You brake your driveshaft means most of the time that your slipper isn’t working.
The slipper slips for a reason. Yeti/score/YetiXL slippers are crap...hard to adjust, not consistent, and jam way too easy.
Robinson racing 1564 or 1556 is a good replacement

Well, two runs on 3S and two shredded driveshafts. This time it left a screw behind...

So... just out of curiosity, what else should I expect to fail? In other words, why should I have bought the kit rather than the RTR? lol

It doesn't look broke just as you lost the lower spline, which is hold by a screw. did you locktide the screw as you assembled it?
otherwise i would assume you just had a loose screw.

The MIP shaft is nearly indestructible. You'll get to find out what will break next.

No, I didn't loctite them. Wouldn't be the first time I've been accused of having a screw loose!

Here's the link from the transmission side. I couldn't find the other link or screw - my guess is the other screw came loose and the link flew off somewhere, then this link pulled itself off the screw head.
