Im looking to buy a case/bag/back pack for my camera and accessories, I was looking into the pelican cases for the durability and the fact that the are watertight. here is a list of the stuff I need to put into whatever product I buy;

nikon d3000 w/ 55-200 lens attached and lens hood
3 more lenses
flash
extra camera and aa batteries
filters
small samsung video camera 5" l x 2.5 w x 2.5 t
sdhc memory cards

Pelican would definitely be stout, but if you want a back pack check out the Kata bags. Very comfortable pack, even when fully loaded. I like the zip out 'drawer' on mine, because I can pull out the camera with out completely taking off the pack. The bottom compartment is adjustable, but could hold up to 4 lenses and a body depending on size. Very durable construction. I've had mine about a year and still looks like new (no frays/rips) and it goes everywhere with me.

Netbook (in the top large pocket)

Waterproof shell that comes with the pack

Camera battery charger
Camera manual
Headlamp and flashlight
Small notepad and pen

Also fits my full size laptop, but I don't carry it anymore.

thanks for the info, I was thinking the pelican because, im starting to do a lot of traveling and I know how the airplane and cruise lines baggage handlers treat the luggage:evil:

Makes sense, but at the same time I don't think I would ever put my gear in their hands in the first place. Carry on only for me.

I always carry it on with me, $4000 worth of camera gear stays in my hands, they can loose my cloths to are cheap"thumbsup" but I also take the camera wheelin' and to construction sites with me, lmk what you guys think.

ive got a tamrac adventure 7, i think. i carry my D60, 18-55 kit lens, 55-200 lens and a sigma 10-20mm lens, one of them always on the camera filters, SDHC cards, cables and cleaning shit. but its full right now, if i get a flash or another lens ill need a bigger bag.

never seen those pelican bags, might have to look into them. waterproof is cool, means it'll keep dust out too which is a bigger problem for me. i too would NEVER trust my camera gear to a baggage handler, it stays on me no matter what.

I have a Kata DR-467 I can carry my Nikon D-90 with 4 lenses. It has a spot for my laptop as well. It also has a rain cover that heas worked very well. The padding in the compartments is absolutely awesome as well.

I uses a Burton 28l bag..I have went thru a dozen bags before I found one I like..I prefer a backpack, it just suites me better..

anyways, this bag is awesome, tons of room, pretty discret (doesnt look like a camera bag)..I like how the opening is against your back, so it cant be opened when you are wearing it..here is a review that I found with some excellent pics..

I have a smaller lowepro bag for short day trips and a larger mountain smith pack for when I need all the lenses the radio slaves and a couple flashes. both have rain flys.

If you want a hard case Pelican is the way to go.

If you have some money Lowepro has a great line of bags in everysize."thumbsup"

You might want to look-up Artisan & Artist, favorite bag of Japanese Pros. I find their design quite functional yet stylish, waterproof, and durable. The bag offers adequate protect for my Leica M7, M8, and 3-4 Leica lenses. "thumbsup"

Hate to say this, but there is no one bag to suit your needs. I have ended up with 3 different bags. Depending on what I am doing is which one I will take with me. I have a Lowepro backup that fits everything, but with everything in there it weighs a fair amount.

I have a toploader that I use for when I just want the camera and one lens.
