ok so i ordered the wrong battery. i ordered this one by mistake with out the xt60 connector

this is for my bronco to run lights and stuff.

I thought if i plugged the balance wire into my traxxas charger i could still charge it. doesnt work do i have to get a adapter for that little red connector to traxxas connector so it will charge. I thought they charged through the balance connector even though i do plug in my main wire also when charging with my large batts.

Maybe this should be in the newb section, still learning only 2 months into the hobby.

They only balance through the balance wire, usualy by discharging through a low amp resistor I think.

Actual charging is only done through the main leads.

So either solder on an xt60 or get an xt60 to jst adapter.

Batteries are electrical ;-)

Thank you! i just got an order of 10 xt60 male/female connectors in , i will solder them on.Wasnt too sure cause the gauge of the wire is so small."thumbsup"

OK so i made a jst to xt60 adapter, on top of that it has a xt60 to traxxas adapter to charge from my EZ peak dual traxxas charger.

Im having a hard time to get these little s3 to charge

The first one would start but then quit, restarted it a bunch of times and finally storage charged,

The second batt the charger will not go into charge mode and i get this error

The detected battery type
does not match the charger
configuration

Any thoughts, not liking this traxxas charger with the Traxxas ID

If you have a volt meter you can check that each cell has at least 3v in it by probing adjacent balence plug wires. Being careful not to short probes together. Ot double check charger settings.

I don't know what traxxas I'd is. If it's an automatic thing or not. I prefer to set everything manually.

Its automatic , you have no choice ,its a terrible charger, just ordered a new one off ebay with my 15% off today, cant wait to get it

I tried the traxxas id wont even consider their is a battery attached via just the balance plug. Dont matter i bought a SKYRC iMAX B6AC V2 ACDC LiPo NiMh Battery Balance Charger off ebay with 15% off, throw that traxxas charger in the garbage.

You should be fine with that SkyRC. It's advertised as a 4 amp charger but I just saw where it will charge up to 6A. Seems strange...

I watched a video on it on youtube and it will do more than 5amp. Its in the selection when charging. So my 5200mah i can select 5.2 amps. Looks like a nice charger and its the authentic one and firmware updates too. If that traxxas has worked for me so far this should be a great update.

Hobbyking also has a charger that will charge 2S and 3S batteries using only the balance plug. I think it's under 5 dollars.

Do you think my little lipo will be ok shipped to me at 30% charge, and prob wont get my new charger for a month to show up to storage charge it.

As I understand it there's a storage chemical present to put the cells in stasis, basically, to extend shelf life that burns off after a few cycles.

Should be fine to sit at delivery charge for quite awhile.

Depends on what you mean by 30% charged, 30% mah might be ok but 30% voltage is not. Should be around 3.7v per cell for storage.

The batt came with a sticker that said lipo charged @ 30% return to storage charge asap.

That's a new one on me. You have to figure they'd have to be able to sit on a retailer's shelf for an extended period of time.

True, but its 7-8 bucks so not a huge deal if it craps out, i will have my good charger then i wont have to worry about it any more.
