I was getting ready to buy a duratrax onyx 200 NiMH battery charger and I was going to ask on here before I purchased if it is a good overall charger and was wanting to know how long would it take to charge a 7.2 5000 battery in it

wanting to know how long would it take to charge a 7.2 5000 battery in it

About an hour on the 5 amp setting

about 100 minutes (an hour and 40 minutes) on the 3 amp setting (if the internal timer lets you charge that long)

about 200 minutes (three hours and 20 minutes) on the 1.5 amp setting (again, were it not for the internal 'safety' timer)

these times assume you're using and having to replace the full 5,000 mA. To extend battery life, you really should stop before the batteries go completely flat. Stopping a little early also shortens charging times, too.

I have an Onyx 230, and a couple of 240's, and I like 'em. Decent reliable chargers, not a lot of fussiness or fanfare. I'd have no problem recommending them.

I now need a lipo charger but need one that will also do a NiMH what is a good one without spending too much...is a imax b6 a good one

venom pro 2 charger is what you want and need. it charges all battery types super user friendly has about all the battery connectors and will run off ac/dc power input and awesome warranty support. for example if your charger craps out and have a battery on it and ruins it they will replace both for free. also its pretty inexpensive i paid $65 for mine. heres a link to it for amainhobbies charges my battery 5000 mah nimh in about an hour at 5 amps and my lipos about the same time on 2 amps. lower my amps jus cuz i dont wanna juice it to high and burn up a battery or my house for that matter. plus i feel it gives i a better charge. imo

Re: Duratrax charger

+1, we have 2 Venom ProChargers in green & 1 in red. The green ones are ~2 years old and no issues other than a noisy fan.
The red was used when I bought it, it's likely 3+ years old.

They can be a bit more expensive, but charge NiCD, NiMH, LiPO, LiFE as well as lead acid.
They come with multiple adapters for different connectors as well as a balance board.
They also run off 110VAC (home use) or 12VDC power (your car/truck when out running for the day).

Some chargers don't have the "extras" that cost you in time & money getting.

Yes, there are some nice chargers that match the Venom for less money, but I'm happy with ours.

PS, as mentioned in your "other" charger thread, having multiple "duplicates" scatters the info around and makes it harder to follow and/or gets the same questions asked. Try to stick to a single thread for a basic topic.
Thanks.8)
