OK, I am at a crossroads in my Rockcrawling career.

I am working on projects that will need more than three channels and also more efficient use of those channels.

I have Clods, 2.2's, Scalers, Tubers etc. on the board. I am using a DX3 right now with the third channel being rear steer or dig depending on the rig. I may come out of the winter with 5 to 6 rigs.

What would be the best option for me?

Now, I know that this is going to start something so let me know what the advantages based on this criteria would be for each that you support.

Ease of Use:
Flexibility:
Expandability:
Economics:
Customizable:

Example:
DX3
Ease of Use: Menu is easy and comfortable
Flexibility: 3 models, moderate
Expandability: None, limited to how it is set up
Economics: $150...not bad
Customizable: None

Make sure you vote also. Other comments are welcome...

Thanks,
John

I think the DX7 will be the most usefull. $$$ is an issue, multiple rx's will add up to what the dx3 cost, if not more. If I understand correctly there is a 3pos switch that could be used for a winch. Use it on scalers, and comp rigs for the winch-down suspension, and still have dig/burn and 4 wheel steering capability for the super. If you're comfortable with a stick radio.

The Dx6 is coming down in price, I've seen on the street pricing under $180 for a NIB unit @ some LHS.

If a stick radio isn't quite your cup of tea, the Nomadio looks like the best option. 4 channels and a ton of programming options:shock:

The new DX3R looks good, I was scrolling through the manual the other night, we get a 3 position switch like the 1st gen DX3, and some other neat bells and whistle's...massive amounts of model storage compared to the 1st gen DX3"thumbsup"And it's backwards compatible with the 1st gen rx's.

The DX6i seems to be real easy to work with, I have been using my DX6 for quite some time now, on everything. When I use it on fast stuff I have to turn the steering rate down as I steer it too fast. What more do you want to know?

I am thinking that there is not just one perfect radio. I am so used to pistol transmitters that it is real hard for me to think of using a stick. The DX6 seems generic and very limited but the price is nice.
The new DX6i looks as step closer to the DX7...DX7 seems like overkill for our use but gives you options to expand your interests at double the price of a DX6...

Then comes the Nomadio...Pistol format, 4 channel but limited if running clod with 4ws.

I'm sooo confused...

DX7 or nomadio. If you can't see yourself needing more than 4 channels EVER then the nomadio might be good for you. It allows enough mixing for a super in a pistol grip. Otherwise the dx7 is totally worth the extra coin over the dx6. The gimbles are nicer, the programming is so much easier, and they have enough channels for working headlights, winch, 4ws, horn, and 2/3 speed trannies.

yeah john i am going nomadio here soon also...

i like the fact that i can run my super on a pistol. its all pc programable, cant go wrong with that."thumbsup"

Duh...

dx7 by far, easiest to program and can hold 20 models. as far as cost, most hobby shops will sell you the radio with just the receiver for a good price. You don't have to run the $100 ar7000 receiver that they come with, the $50 ar6000 will work just fine, just one less channel. $50 dollars per receiver isn't that much when you think about it, 6 channels, no crystals necessary, and no stupid antennae to hide
