I am new to rc kits and I plan in getting a vaterra twin hammers kit. I want to know what you guys reccomend of these items for me if I could keep it under 500 that would be great but going over 700 is not gonna happen and I want a brushless waterproof car cause I am canada and I can't really live without a waterproof car. Here is what I'll need tell me what should I get of these

Transmitter and receiver (3-channel system required to operate two-speed transmission)
Steering Servo
Ca glue
ESC & motor brushless waterproof
Battery 3s or 2s

Pinion

Thanks for the help!

I would say get the stock radio (DX3E) they work just fine and you can pick them up pretty cheap, used to. Then spend your money on a good quality titanium gear steering servo, they take the biggest beating and a good one will last (I run nothing but Hitec). Then get a quality speed control (I have had good luck with Castle stuff). Shift servo not as critical I run a Hitec 225mg there like 30 dollars. Motor is defiantly a personal choice, you need to figure what you want to do with the TH, go fast, all around, dedicated crawler the choices are endless. With the right motor 3s is not needed and there are more choices in 2s, like the 2s 4200 shorty packs that fit in stock battery tray.

I will back up at irie is everything he said. I personally run only 3s. 2200mah 3s to be specific. I do this because I found the TH is so small and I can still hide a 3s. And when running my same set up I get 15minutes out of a 2200mha 2s vs almost an hour on a 2200mha 3s. Plus added speed. Plus plus.
If under 20mph is ok for you id definetly suggest a 15t brushed motor since water proof is necessity. I have had no luck water proofing brushless sensored system. And if you want to still crawl you've got to go with a sensored brushless system.
For radios I run flysky gt3c radios. 3 channels, digital, and about $40 with receiver. Digital is a big plus over the stock spectrum set up because you don't have to worry about bumping the knobs and ruining a shift servo. The reason I think 95% of shift servos have failed is due to improper endpoint adjustment.
Hope this helps. Most of us have build threads you can look over and get some opinions about electronics too.

Non sensored brushless motor cboggs. That would also be the reason all the guys with yetis are getting rid of them.

Okay thanks for the great advice guys and I would like a kinda all around car trail running, long run times, atleast 20mph, can crawl...

I've done a lot of different things to my THs. Brushless, sensored brushless, brushed (55t,27t, 15t, 13t). Feels like I've tried them all. And while all have had their perks i keep going back to the one with the stock 15t geared down to 22/78 (stock is 28/78 ) that I run on 3s. It is a little bit fast than stock. It crawls a little bit better. And the battery lasts about an hour with my driving.

Can you you give me a link to the motor and the gears if its on a main.com or another site and what ESC and battery do you use?

I to have run many setups and have now seteled on this one that works for me.

ESC: Mamba Max Pro on full sensored mode
Motor: Turnigy sensord 5T 4150kv 550 size
Battery: 4200mah Shorty pack in factory battery tray
Gearing: 26/78
With this combo it does 24.7 MPH and crawles as slow as you want. Here is a video of it in action
