I have been seeing alot of people with there esc's and recievers mounted in front and behind the tranny underneith the shock mounts. Ive heard of people using lexan and other people cutting there battery mount. My question is, how are people mounting these? Im wondering if drilling into the side plates are gonna cause any weak points?
Any help or tips would be appriciated!!

I did this, it looks so much cleaner than using the tray and whatnot...

I used double sided tape (it's what I had) and one of those plastic trim paint guard things from Home depot (again, what I had).
I made two trays as the MM and the BEC didn't fit and wouldn't have worked so great on the same "tray".

Didn't take long, love the results.........
There are a couple of people that did this a couple of different ways. I have been lurking for a month.....I am WAY NEW, I am not gonna say who gave me or where I got the Idea but I know it was this thread or one very similar.

mount everything as low as possible. if know one post pictures of their set-up by tomorrow ill take pictures of mine and post them for you. he beat me to it but i did the same set-up works very well

I took the brackets that held my batter tray from the top where my shock mount and replaced the spacer behind the upper links with it and vice versa. I then cut a peice of lexan to fit both brackets perfectly and put two faced tape on each. I mounted my receiver on one and my esc on the other. I hope thisd helps

Thats a VERY nice setup! Thanks for the step by step too. Im gonna do that. I might have to do it in the front and rear because I dont know if the reciever and the mamba max will both fit up front.. Whatd ya think?

That's pretty much what I did.

Nice looking set up Hot Rod.

I mounted my RX on top of the battery plate (it is really light), my ESC I mounted under the battery plate, just forward of the tranny. Both are mounted with servo tap. This stuff works well, but you have to make sure all surfaces are very clean before you put on the tap. I also tie-wrapped the parts in place and let them sit over night.

Good luck...

Just got mine moved tonight, used a chunk of carbon left over from a pan car chassis. I offset them both to the right a bit (mostly due to the odd shape of the material) and incorporated the antenna mount in there too. The wiring is a bit cluttered , might work on that one day...

Cool. Ya did fit the esc and the reciever on the same end.. I wasnt sure if that was possible yet. Im gonna dig into it tommorrow I think and get my stuff re-arranged.

IHeardARuckus,
Are you having any issues with the carbon fiber and the antenna mount? I think I read here that it could cause an issue (although I never had an issue with my Thundertech Outlaw Chassis Stampede). And I am looking for a good way to mount that on mine right now.....oh and how are you connecting the other end and dealing with the slack (I have a ton).
Oh yeah, and first thing I thought when I read your name was "Can you describe the ruckus?" and "Does Barry Manilow know that you raid his wardrobe?".

Augie

Not that I noticed. What I did was drill a hole through the bottom of the stock axial mount, that way the wire could go through the plastic without touching or getting cut up on the sharp edges of the carbon

I'm assuming you mean the slack on the antenna? I just cut it. It's still plenty long.

It's my SN on all the other forums I'm on, it has to do with my Honda Ruckus, but yes, it's a direct spoof on the movie.

I just finished this mod. VERY NICE. I was out crawlin' yesterday afternoon, and while running on steep grades, I was having issues with my CG being tooooo high. My battery was already split on the front axle, but my XL5 ESC and SR3000 receiver were sitting atop the original battery plate location. This simple mod allowed me to relocate the weight considerably lower. I have an R2D, bent lower links, and internal springs coming this week, so doing this also allowed the prep for the near future mods to be completed very easily. THANKS for the write-up of this.
