wow do i understand this right, the fed may shut down over the budget and this means all/alot fed employees are not getting paid including soldiers?, man that will hurt alot of people..i guess the polititians still get paid? sounds like they all need to put on big boy pants and get it done..when a new budget isnt passed here its a vote of non confidence and we are now haveing an election(just happened) but the govt doesnt shut down..i think the election happens due to its a minority govt(3 party system..national partys anyway)..im just trying to understand how this works

All non essential government employees will be furlowed ie USDA. The essential will still be open ie FBI, CIA. The military will still be getting paid and have funding also until September unless an agreement is reached. I work right outside of DC so it is all the buzz around here.
 
All gov emplyee's wont get paid excpect congress and Obama they get paid days off its all bull s**t. I can't wait till we have the next american civil war. Its the only way to get rid of are craptastic goverment. Ive said for years we need to get rid of all the people in congress/white house and start all over. and not wait for there terms to be up can them all in 1 day. have a instant election to replace them all don't give anyone time to campain and don't give them time to get curupt. The People need to stand up for them selfs.

A civil war would be bad for everyone. Spending cuts are what needs to happen at this point. Very deep and painful but it must happen. My wife and I jave made cuts ourselves, many tough, many painful, but such is life. If it takes a govt shut down to get asses in gear and start making real cuts then so be it.
 
The house is about to vote on a continuing resolution that would fund the troops for the rest of the year. The sticking point is that the Rep's are also asking for 12 Billion in additional cuts. I don't think the Dems will go for it and the Pres. has said he will veto it.

I work for the USDA, so it looks like I am going to be getting an unscheduled vacation. Hopefully it wont take too long to come to get a budget passed.

You are not going to get thoughs cuts with the current people in there. This is a vacation for them its not going to change a dam thing.

I may not be right in this but its what I think needs to be done the complete disolvment of are goverment and replaced. I don't know how to do it but as it stands now I have no faith that are goverment can do anything but spend are money in fighting in other countrys I have no faith that the US will stay #1 in the world and I have no faith that pussfied america will do anything about it. We will be a 3rd world nation before I die.

Just had a meeting at work (I'm active duty) and we were told if nothing was passed tomorrow we would see half a paycheck next week. I'm already a month behind on rent because of my back pay not coming in yet, so they better get to work and figure this out. How many familys and other active duty members will not be able to pay rent, put food on the table, and pay their bills? I hope congress sees the bigger picture and can come to an agreement, this affects so many people.
 
so am I going to get screwed when I join the military in june? fawk! :x
I must admit the civil war thing does sound good but only if it meant that no one got hurt and everyone just went against the government and threw everyone out and put in completely new people, other than that I think this government just sucks:cry:
 
The house has passed the CR and it is now in the hands of the Senate. Reid has said it will not make it to the floor and will not be voted on, and Obama says he will veto it even if it gets through the house. It's not looking good right now.

I am watching CSpan right now and these discussions are going no where.
 
Sadly, a lot of my guys ( active duty ) live paycheck to paycheck and don't have funds saved up to weather this kind of storm. I hope the people on the Hill playing these political chess matches will remember this.
 
These delays have been happening all year. The budget was supposed to be outlined over 6 months ago.....lazy ass politicians.
 
yeah, same boat as a couple of the other guys in here....wife is active duty, and now, looks like she'll be working for free for a while, unless the big wigs get their stuff together. worst thing is, i'm the asshole because i'm pissed about not being able to pay bills off to her. but hoping for a resolution, bi-partisan politics are really starting to piss me off, especially when voting down party lines means losing everything to keep the bank at bay.
 
that sux for sure, seems like a bunch of political game playing and not "by the people, for the people" at all...when it happens here everything keeps going just nothing new happens and an election is called(waste of time/money) as we will still end up with the same result pretty much..same party will be in power as a minoroty, which makes it hard for the party in power as they dont have a majority in the house to vote things through..cant just ram stuff through..or get important things done..depending on your views
 
Had the Barry and Democrats passed a budget last October(as mandated by law) when they had a Majority in the House, Senate, and the White House , this entire discussion would not exist. But since when does the law mean anything to a Democrat?

It was an election year and they simply didn't want the American people to see how massive amounts of our tax dollars are being wasted.


Now they (the Democrats) are posturing over a few billion dollars being cut from the 3 + Trillion dollars our Federal Government is spending just this year?

Listening to the Liberal Media and the ever predictable Democrats, you would think it's the end of the world. In reality, it's more like the wake from a tiny pebble being tossed into the ocean.

I was just watching this on the news myself. The military is expected to keep fighting, but now for free. Government officials will still collect pay.

When I was in, the lowest rank came first...privates ate before officers. I think the first to lose their pay should be those that are causing this mess, but none of them have the sack to step up to the plate. Cause a problem? Then FIX IT!!! :evil:

I'd love to see one government official surrender his/her pay while the troops fight for free. Support our troops? Then prove it! Sorry for the rant, but this kind of crap makes me mad.
 
To put this in perspective. Let's say you drop 9 zeros from the debt that would make it $3,700. If the debt was $3,700 the republicans are asking them to cut $33 dollars from that budget. The dems are think $33 is too much.

A bit of a note, the $3700 Billion is just what is projected to be spent for the 2011 fiscal year.....not anywhere close to the total US debt of $14 Trillion. The republican plan is asking them to cut less than 1% from this year's expenditures....this year which is now half over....
 
This whole situation disgusts me,our goverment is broken.This country needs a leader,sadly I don't see anyone on the horizon that can turn this country around.Makes me wonder how bad things are going to get before something gives.People are losing hope and when thats gone despiration sets in.Civil war you say?That would be bad for everyone,but it is going to take radical changes to turn things around.
