Filling Hard body plastic holes.

What are you all using to fill in holes in hard plastic bodies and like smooth out body lines? I stared a scale build need to fill on some holes.
If you can Post pictures of the items that will work.

I used small bits of styrene in mine. Just the leftover tiny pieces. Put them in the hole and put a good bit of the solvent on them a few times and it softened it up enough to get pretty solid. Once I was happy with that I used body filler putty and smoothed them over and sanded.

I agree with struhall. I will back the hole with a small square piece of styrene, then fill it with small bits, or recently I used round solid styrene rod just slightly smaller then the hole. That worked extremely well as it required less filler. Less filler = less chance for any cracking / shrinking of the repaired area. IMO!

Here's how I fill holes. Drill out the holes to the size of your round styrene stock (easily found online or at nearly any hobby store). Use CA glue on the round stock and work the styrene into the newly cleaned out/drilled hole. Once the CA glue has cured you can cut the styrene off even with the surface of the body.


Once that's done you can sand down the surface until it's smooth again. You can then back the hole with another piece of scrap styrene and some CA glue or use a thin layer of ShooGoo. Don't use a thick layer as it will shrink once it has cured and may cause warpage in certain thin plastics used in a few hardbodies floating around.
