Foam for Goodyear MTR 2.2?

Anyone got a recommendation for good foam that can fill in the Goodyear MTR 2.2 tires?

I picked up a set of the Deuces Wild Standard Size Single Stage but there's an awful lot of room around the tire. I know they say there should be some room but I prefer for the tire to fill in.

I'm running an 8 pound 1/10 Gmade GOM and would like it to be a bit more stiffer.

Anyone have a good recommendation for dual stage foams on the firm side that will fill in this tire? Thanks.

Crawler Innovations DW foams have been very good ime, gotta size them accordingly and that requires about 1/4" air gap around the outer circumference to allow some conformity. I've trimmed the width on some to make them fit other tires because I don't like the sidewalls tight against the foam, doesn't crawl as well that way ime, needs little room all around. His dual stage are good too, kinda depends on what you want and how much water you run in. My Va'Blazer is still rocking the original set of CI DW foams and they just seem to get better and better, crawls awesome! :)
Just noticed they've got 11% off code on their site currently.

Thanks Nate yea I don't want that gap. I've actually got a good 1/4" gap right now and you're right it's great for crawling but for some reason I just prefer the tires to fill out more. I'll likely go with a 2 stage. Thanks also for the heads up on the coupon code!

Can you get some tuning rings to fill up the space.

Thanks jaymann. Kinda new to all this so didn't even know there such thing as a "tuning ring" ... will def have to look into that.

I ended up taking advantage of the 11% off and picked up some 6" 2-stage Deuces wild medium for up front and firm for rears. Looking forward to em!

Did you get the CI foams inside the MT/R yet?
I am having huge issues

My beadlocks won't grab the bead properly with both 5.5 and 6.0 double deuce.

When I try the stock foams, it's perfect.

I just wrote an email to Eddy from CI.
I think the Chinese beadlocks with 35mm width might have something to do with it.
The CI inner foam is VERY tight and I have to force the beadlock metal ring in there.

It's supposed to be tight. After a bit of driving the closed cell foam loosens up so starting with it snug it stays tighter over the long haul. I'd get some longer hardware to get the wheels clamped in place and then use the shorter hardware to finish it off.

I can close the 2 halves by hand it's just there is no way the bead stays round. The tire is oval with the CI foams and the bead dosent seat properly. Always 1 spot too far out.

With the stock foams I could literally mount them with my eyes closed and they seat all around no problem.

Trust me its it's possible... the closed cell is a bit large so it requires a bit more elbow grease and trickery to mount.

You could always just sand the closed cell down a bit if needed. A dremel will make very short work of it.

Sand the sides or the inside ?

Whatever part of the foams is inhibiting them from mounting. Foams are modified more often than not around my place. Sanded, cut, trimmed or narrowed is just another necessity when you want something exactly how you want it.

Thanks for the feedback White Trash.

So do you guys normally buy foam a bit larger than what you need then cut down to size? Or you aim for a good fit and just cut as necessary?

I'm new to RC cars so I'm kind of surprised there isn't a standard size for the different size classes.

It depends on the tires really. I will usually get foam the same OD as the tire or smaller and modify as needed. Mostly I narrow the front closed cell a bit so the sidewalls don't bulge and then let the outer foam fill it in.
