Anyone into collecting/hunting for them? I've recently been turned on to it. The Mississippi river is within 500yds of my house and it's way down. I have heard for years of people finding bones/fossils but have never been interested. We found several nice things today.

I've found these over the years on the eastern shore of Delaware. Some are fosilized bone, of course the familar sharks teeth, and my favorite,
Nanticoke Indian arrow heads. Estimated to be from late 15th century.

You are a bit north, but if you wend down to the Yazoo County area, where the Sunflower and Yazoo rivers meet rights after the frames disk their fields, you can find a good 5 arrow heads an hour plus some nice spearheads and an occasional mini ball.

Feeding the Sunflower and Yazoo and a bunch of these wide creek beds with just a small (step over it) creek in them (except during rainy season). Walk those or run your RCs in them and you will find loads of petrified Wood and Crazy Laced Agates.

On the rivers them selves, if you have access to a boat, you may find some nice shark teeth buried in the strata in the cut banks. Though for this your best bet is to take a boat on the Tom Bigbe on the east side of the state. We have found shark teeth there up to 2" long.

I am looking forward to having some time after we get settled in down there to do some mineral/fossil hunting.

Good Luck.
