I picked up a receiver-less used Clodbuster and got a Futaba 3PJ Super thrown in for free. I'm an RC noob and know virtually nothing about this stuff (my working rig is a Redcat RS10 XT RTR, plug it in and go!) so please speak loudly and slowly...

Does anyone have any advice on whether it's worth the trouble to try to use this radio, and if so, what receivers I could use with it in the Clodbuster (currently set up as a 4x4x4)?

A new receiver for that radio will cost you about $90 + $10 for a crystal or if you can find a used one probably $30 and you will probably have to buy a crystal for the used one too.

Given the new cost of the receivers and crystal you can buy a new 2.4Ghz radio with a lot more functions for about $75 with receiver.

Yeah, I was wondering whether it would be worth the trouble compared to what's out there now (and the whole crystal thing is kind of a mystery, I'd need to do some serious reading up before trying to use this thing).

Anyone tried the FrSky FF-1 2.4 GHz module for the Futaba?
