Wow. Long time no update!
Welp, I've done quite a bit...
I went to the 2010 Midwest Challenge, and while there, I won an Axial BTA kit. I highly reccommend it, it went together quite nice. It was set up without upper link mounts, for the stock AX-10 3 link. I'm ghetto, as crap, and HAD to have a 4-link setup. I drilled the plate, and bolted on an old TLT link mount I've been kicking around. Like I said it's ghetto, but it works!
I have also re-done the wires from the ESC to the motor. They used to have a deans plug connecting them, but I now just have it hardwired, basically just for the looks. While I was messing with that, I blacked out the wires for an even cleaner look.
It made ZERO difference in performance, but I de-anodized the transmission spacers. No more green!
Probably the most extensive thing I've done was adding the VP dig. I bought it used, here on RCC. Installation was easy as cake, even without instructions. I love the lower profile, and the craftmanship is top notch! I've only ran it once since this addition, but I will say that it's SMOOTH!
I made a new plate to mount my RX on, just like the old one. This time, as opposed to running the antenna through a tube, I wrapped it around an old body post, heat-shrinked it, and bolted it to the rear 4-link plate. It works for me, and hopefully I wont have a replay of my first run at the Midwest Challenge... (My antenna pulled out of the RX right before my first course...)
With the addition of the VP Dig, I had to change up my rear driveshafts. The Revo shafts simply wouldn't fit under the servo as it is now (but it was damn close!:twisted
I used to run pede shafts on EVERYTHING, and was pleased to find that I still had a few steel yokes and new shafts in my parts box.
I also changed the fronts to Maxx shafts. Still with custom drilled Axial/Maxx yokes, it's sure to be a near bulletproof setup.
All in all, I'm back in love with this rig. Now I just need the weather to cool down a few degrees and get some driving time in!
