Getting stupid long run times

About a month ago I bought a wraith spawn kit. Has Axial AE-5 and 55T crawler motor. Stock gearing. I bought it with an ONYX 2s 4000mah lipo. I ran this for up to 2 hours without the battery dying. Just ran out of time. I recently purchased a Gens Ace 3s 2200mah lipo and just ran it for the first time. Ran for 1hr, 20mins and it still wasn't dead! I was doing a combination of bashing and crawling, but I was pretty heavy on the throttle enjoying the new-found power/wheel speed. I checked the voltage and it was at 11 volts even. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but the useable voltage range with this battery should be 12.6-10.2 volts. That's a range of 2.4 volts. I used 1.6 volts. That's about 67%. On that logic I still had 33% battery life left. Could I really see 2-hr run times on a 2200mah battery? seems crazy! Also leads me to believe I could get 3-4 hrs out of my 2s 4000mah! Is my experience typical? just curious. Thanks.

On a 3s, i like my LVC to kick in around 10.8v total pack voltage so although essentially there is a bit of % left, this keeps it nice and close to storage voltage.
It all depends on the surface you're on as well. On difficult rocks with lots of binding or in mud where the motor is under a lot of load it will be reduced a little but still sounds about right for a 55t motor.

All depends on your driving style, motor, gearing, etc, but I generally get 1.5-2 hours out of my 2200 packs while out on the trail. That's with a 2S and 17.5 brushless.

11.25v with keep your packs happy. Lower will damage them over time and raise the IR.

Just get bigger or more packs.

OK cool. Thanks for the input. I do plan to get another 2200 3s pack. They're $16 shipped so... Does anyone know if the LVC on the AE-5 is adjustable?

I've noticed with anything I run I'll get slightly longer run times with more cells even at the same mah. For example my 3s 2200mah run a bit longer than my 2s 2200mah.

That's because it's basically a 3300 2S equivalent. So you should definitely get more runtime.

Rather than adjusting LVC, get a $5 HobbyKing voltage/cell checker so you can always be sure on the trail.

One will save you money long term as it'll stop you prematurely killing good lipos (also reduces the chances of dropped cells and fires etc as you will keep the lipos in far better condition).

Will do. Thank you much!
