I switched to an 11t pinion ... and dont have 2nd gear hooked up on my Glad, and as you could imagine, i have lost a tonne of speed with the gear reduction.

My question is, do you think I could get away with running an 8T Crawlmaster to get my speed back in action? Or thats asking to much from the 8T to push that ratio? I will be running a heatsink and fan combo on the motor, and my HW 1080 also has a fan installed on it.

I see on the HH website, they recommend 10t to 15t ... but im assuming they recommend that at worse case scenario would be ... so if the owner keeps the original 14t pinion, the 10t would still be fine with it. Which makes me think (could be wrong) that an 8t would be ok with the 11t ... especially with cooling.

Thoughts?

I'm running HW 1080 with the HH 8t with a 11t pinion on 3s in my scx10.2 with mods now its still not as heavy as the scx10.3 but I've had no issues at all with heat or strain. In my scx10.3 jlu I'm running the HH 12t with I believe a 12t pinion and the HW 1080 on 3s. Also this is basically stock except for the motor and esc so no added weight. Runs fine no problems and isn't too fast. The 8t even with the 11t pinion is still pretty fast IMO.

Roughly speed is about 5.8 mph. With the 12turn 12 pinion

Excel spreadsheet says with a 8t and 11t pinion be looking at about 6.5 mph
