you can get a compact one! the smaller you go the less run time you will get out of the battery. 5000 mah battery is quite large, an 1800 mah is much smaller and will give you much less run time as compared to a 5000 mah. check out
cheapbatterypacks.com he has a great selection of 2s lipos in all sizes and at great prices"thumbsup"

I totally agree about cheapbatterypacks.com lipos. I just bought 2 cbp 3s lipos last week from hobbytown concord last week. I know that the 3s obviously has more punch than the 2s will have, but as far as quality and price, u can't go wrong. My 3s 1300mah packs fit very nicely on the front axle, plenty small enough.

I can run 2 stages with one 850 mah 3s lipo from CheapBatteryPacks.com. Anything bigger than that and my tires get into my battery too much on the front axle.

ya i had saddle packs and they rub with 1500's so i went with a venom lipo 5000mah only cuz i dont have to use a dean conector and there was no sotering, i mounted it where the stock battery gose just on the bottom of the plate and put the esc on the fron uper links triangle plate and the reciver on a home made triangle plate on the rear .works great 8)"thumbsup"

I used to get about 40 min or so on my 1500 nimh saddle packs w/ stock axial esc/motor. Now I'm running 1300 2s lipos on holmes esc/motor and still get around the same runtime.

My vote goes for smaller batteries on the axle - gets the weight down where it belongs

Thanks for your responses guys. I was just about to post a similar question as getting packs that fit on the axle here in the UK is proving difficult. I've now checked out the cheapbatterypacks site and looks like I'll go for the Elite 2S (I'm using a Rooster ESC so limited to 2S) 1000mA - the slightly larger one is showing out of stock. It's 35C rating so should be OK.

Anyone else using these things? - Cheap as chips, even with shipping and duty.
