Everyone with a crawler is welcome to attend. We will be running the 2.2 class and super crawler class. Please brush up on your rules and prepare your crawler to qualify.

Directions:
Travel east on Hwy 50 to Whitewater. Take Highway 141 south for 2.8 miles. The location is at the first cattle gate. There is parking just south and east of the road after the cattle gate, or if you want, take your vehicle up the small trail east and just north of the cattle gate.

====================================================

Today, we had a meeting at the shop and I think we had much accomplished and I hope everyone will be happy with the new club rule changes and fees. It was decided that I am the secretary, and I can assure you that the money we pay goes right back to everyone who participated. The club's funds are public information, and if anyone has any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to ask.

1) There are going to be 8 point series competitions.
2) There are going to be prizes at the final competition that will be given away as a raffle. The amount of prizes we purchase will be based on the total funds we have at the end of the points series which should be quite substantial. Your name will be entered in as many times as you enter the competitions so you will have a better chance at prizes the more you attend. To be eligible for the prizes, you must attend at least 5 of the competitions.
3) There is going to be a barbecue with a cost of $250 at the final point series competition. Let's all hope Warren can have this at his ranch in Rifle :)
4) Out of the funds we collect, $200 will go to Andy's shop. This fee covers the miscellaneous items and work needed for the competition such as score cards, gates, etc.., the high desert website crawler section which includes tallying up scores, and other general crawler club support as Andy is available Tuesday-Sunday for anything club related.
5) Any other proposed changes that require spending of the clubs funds will be settled by a vote.

We really hope to see you there. "thumbsup"

Thanks Matt for the update, and info on the new club. It would of been nice to know about the meeting so myself and others could of attended:x.
(Rant Off).

It is good that you and steve have agreed to oversee some of the club duties, we all appreciate it, as some of us work out of town all time. I have made arrangements to work ether 24 or 36 hour shifts so I can take time off for crawling"thumbsup". So I plan on making most of the comps this year, providing I can keep my crap in one piece;-).

It was a 'spur of the moment' meeting to save the club, so there was no warning. We do need someone to call meetings actually, so if someone else wants to step up to take that position, please say so. Someone else that is not affiliated with high desert shop would be perfect actually because we continually need the outside perspective.

I should elaborate a bit on the meeting since more people could not attend.

Matt, James, Steve and Andy were present.

I brought up the issue that the fee was too high. I said there should be no fee or a small fee and I offered myself as secretary. So we began to break down costs. Andy wanted $200 for his website crawler section, for the score cards, and other general structure and work he provides. We all felt that was a fair amount. Andy also wants to hold a barbecue for everyone at the final competition at a cost of $250 and we all agreed. Steve C suggested using some of the money from the club to pay the top points series holder's entry fee to nationals, however that item has not been agreed upon yet. Andy offered to use the remainder of the money to buy prizes which would then be raffled off at the final points series and we all overwhelmingly agreed. The amount of money for prizes should be quite substantial, so there should be many prizes where nearly everyone should walk away with a prize.

Any future meetings will involve the whole club and we will vote on any undecided issues.

i am up in the roaring fork valley and want to start to get involved with comps more, i have a kids rc club and we all have the ax-10s and want to get out, is this the best place to stay informed or do you guys have an email list you send out etc...? can't make it to unaweep for this comp, but i have spent many many days rock climbing in that canyon and have recently got my rc crawler out there to play, its pretty endless and i have some great spots already set up to crawl, i would like to just come meet up and have some fun out there sometime and meet some of the locals, any of you guys have real crawlers? it's about that time...

This is the best place to stay informed and we'd be glad to have your kids RC club come out here for the competitions. Just be prepared to have a lot of fun and make a lot of new friends.

There are a couple guys who have some full scale crawlers. Sometimes they even bring them to the comps just to show off and make everyone else drool 8)

Been working too much on the 2.2 comp rig to do much with the scaler.

Also without knowing what rules the scalers will be running I didn't want to spend too much time making a scaler just to discover I'm not competitive because I assumed one set of rules and they're using something else. I decided I'd wait and see how you guys are doing the scaler thing and then maybe work from there. I can bring the body along tomorrow but I haven't worked on it since I last posted in the gun tractor thread.

Are Steve and James going to be out setting up the course this afternoon like they did last fall?

Steve said he was going to be there at 6am to set it up, but who knows, they may set it up tonight. I will be there at around 8am.

I just wanted to thank everyone for showing up. We had 33 participants total. There were a lot of nice rigs out there. The competition seems to really be heating up this year. "thumbsup"

All I can say is wow, look at the smile on everyone. Thanks for the pictures James.

The courses were extremely tough. I was judging Course #1. There was one spot on the course I labeled "the black hole", because if you got too close to it, your rig would just start gettin sucked right in. Even if you thought you were in the clear, the black hole would getcha. I would warn everyone that this spot was a trap, and to beware. There was a spot in the middle that claimed many front driveshafts too. The old man Marvin with his first outing to a competition held the highest score on Course #1 for about 2 hours, then all of the sudden about 5 guys in a row went through with under 3 penalties.

The Rifle crew had some real fancy rigs "thumbsup"

All in all, it was a whole lotta fun and it was good to see everyone again.

The next competition is planned for Moab, UT. The final location is TBA.
