I've been a fan of the GTA series since GTA III. I pirated the shit out of GTA III, but I own legal copies of Vice City, SA, and IV.

I've wanted to buy GTA V for the longest time now, but... GTA IV left a terrible taste in my mouth with it's ridiculous DRM. Seriously, they tied that game to Windows Live so hard, every time I went to play it, I had to go through 5-7 fix guides for Windows Live just to get it running. If you got an hour to play games, and you spend 45 minutes fixing the 'feature' that nobody wanted in the first place to get into the game, it's not worth it.

I know GTA V doesn't have Windows Live, but I have heard things about random bannings for people playing online. I don't think I want to put up with that shit. Getting banned for hacking, on a totally unmodified game, is BS, straight up.

So, if I just play single player, is it worth it getting the game? I don't really care about the silly mod games that online offers, but is there anything you wouldn't get from single player that you would from playing the online version?

I don't own a console, besides a PS2 and a Game Boy Advance, and I have no intention to get a console, so this is strictly a PC question.

The game itself has a great storyline IMHO. Playing online is questionable at best due to the kids ruining it. Since you're on PC, you likely won't encounter the kids running amuck like they do on consoles. Yes, they are everywhere, but mostly consoles.

With that said, playing online won't get you banned, per say. It's what you make of it. Rockstar can be a royal PITA sometimes. If you're in doubt, you can always do a private session and play alone for a bit until you find good folks to enjoy it with.

Lastly, I'm a lil jelly. Enjoy the PC experience. I'm stuck on the One.

I play the hell out of it online and single player when I have the time. Never been banned or had issues in the last year and a half I've been playing. The kids get annoying at times but it's no biggy to swap rooms if they get too bad

I play on pc, got banned once for cheating (adding money). Otherwise no issues, you will run into the occasional modder, but they are more fun to antagonize than anything

Hmmm. Well, yesterday was payday, and I got nothing else to spend my money on, so... I guess I'll grab it tonight.

I enjoy PC gaming, but since I got my i5 system, I've been super happy. I was on a C2Q before, which sadly died, and it was nice, but not anywhere near as smooth as the i5. Mine's two generations out of date now, but it's still an awesome computer. I think getting a new video card last year really did it, though, for smoothness and overall performance.

And irony... I use an XBox 360 controller for GTA, usually.

Great story, great gameplay, lots of things to see and/or do, even after the story is over. I don't think there has ever been a game that held my attention and interest as long as GTAV.

Online is hit and miss for me (xbone), kids are a pita, and sometimes just being within visual range of another player is enough to get you killed, regardless of your intentions.

I agree. The single player story was great. Lots to do and see with multiple story lines going on. It definitely hooked me in for hours at a time. I even went back and played from the beginning again which I usually never do with games. I hated the online play since back in the day, wasn't fun to me, so I haven't tried it with V. I still like just driving around getting in trouble with cops and then having to lose them.

They have a "safe" mode so that you can play without being constantly assaulted. It makes it easier to go about your business, but not nearly as exciting.

They also have a ton of extra (and free!) content online. The seasonal themes are fun too.

I still like just driving around getting in trouble with cops and then having to lose them.

"thumbsup"

Ever load up on ammo and hop the train?

My XB1 is boxed up right now as we move into this new house, closing on the 4th. Priority just became to get the TVs hung asap.

Pretty sure I haven't hopped the train. Must find out about this!

Jump onto a flatbed car and go go gadget. I use Trevor and the heavy sniper rifle to blow up the helicopters before they're in range.

I've beat the single player version 5 or 6 times trying different things each time, it's a hoot.

One way to piss off the idiots is to get their attention then go start a gang attack. There is no killing players while the gang attack is active so they can't do shit. They'll either leave or start killing the attackers. I'll go get the money and plan out where to kill the last attacker so I'm set up to kill whatever idiot was trying to kill me then drive away. Fawk, I play too much. :lmao:

Jack knifing a tractor trailer in the tunnel is fun too. Block both lanes, then lob grenades over into the backed up traffic.

Pretty much anything that involves explosions and a pile of cars is good stuff.

I'll use cheat codes and go invincible and have explosive rounds and see how much carnage I can cause. Shit gets real pretty quick when I do it at Fort zankudo and the tanks come rolling in.

is there a gaming thread like the movie thread? i remember awhile back duuude mentioned lost cause being good, and i took his reco and ended up enjoying the crap out of that game when before he gave it a review i never woulda even considered it.

love the single player gta5 but wasnt a fan of the online experience. i kinda burned myself out back in the days where i'd play quake3 alot.

im SURE on a pc its better. part of my problem is i need a mouse and a keyboard when dealing with other real people.

Online is fun if you keep from getting trolled into screwing with the children. I drive the kuruma exclusively since it's fast, all wheel drive and armored. When they come after me I just out drive them and honk my clown horn at them. Hell I was doing doughnuts around some fool with a tank last night. Poor schmuck couldn't aim fast enough to hit me so I just kept honking and sliding till he gave up and left.

I'll go online and do work a lot too. I have a substantial amount of cash from just going out and doing missions over and over raking in the cash. This is from like January so I've played a bit more since then...

I have 3 garages, 2 full of pink fully modded cars and one for gang cars that I steal and turn in every 42 minutes. I'm a sexxy bitch too. Full on tranny with 70's short shorts. It's funny when a game character walks by and I hear "you look like a tranny!" :lmao:

And my kuruma complete with penis wheels.

Trying to decide if I want to wait for it to go on sale, or just jump on it now.

A new DLC just came out for SE4, so I might play that, then after, if GTA V isn't on sale, grab it then.

But then, I got Skyrim to play, too...

Hum. I've never been in a position where I have too many games to play, and can't decide which one to actually play.

I got myself a copy of GTA V off Steam. So far, so good.

I use a game controller (Razer Nostromo) for movement, shooting, etc., and an XBox controller for driving. So far, everything's been pretty good, except I died 7 times before I realized that you have to be in FPV for swimming. Holy shit, how stupid...

Being an idiot, I somehow managed to unplug the router without noticing it. Despite this, I was able to play the campaign mode offline without any problems, what-so-ever. So, yeah, they fixed the HUGE problem I had with GTA IV. I still feel shafted, I bought the game and the expansion pack, and never got even 1/3 of the way through the game's story, and maybe 3 missions into the Ballad of Gay Tony, and maybe did the first in the biker expansion. If Rockstar, or even a modder, disabled that Games for Windows Live bullshit, I'd be able to play the game no problem.

I love me some GTA V. The kids online suck, so I'll either go into a solo session or adjust my mtu rates so I get into a group session alone and deliver my coke.
