An H2 came through my driving clinic today. Now that I've driven it, I can support the fact it is crap. Here's why.

1. No ground clearance, the stupid nerf bars (not even rock sliders) sit way too low.
2. It looks bigger than the GMC's, and it accomplishes this by making the windows all smaller. Therefore, you get almost 0 vision out of the sucker. Forward vision is especially hard.
3. All of the fit and finish is ****. Absolute ****. This hummer was an 05, low miles. Each door panel had 1/2 an inch or more flex to it, the "oh ****" handles flexed under light pressure, the airbag panel on the passenger side had atleast an inch of flex at the seems. The allen screws they use to make the interior beefy looking are all marred and fogged stainless. The size of the compartment doors is MASSIVE, then you open the doors and the actual size of the storage compartments is compact car size.
4. Speaking of fit and finish. What the f is up with all the plastic on the outside? You get lame plastic grille plated in chrome, lame plastic bumpers, plastic plastic plastic. Where the heck is that $50k going to?
5. Acceleration is crap. It begs for downhills. I could out accelerate it in a 4 cylinder ford escort missing its back left tire and starting in 2nd gear with a slipping clutch. Its way too heavy, way underpowered.
6. It is quite nimble. I'll give it that. The steering is very tight and responsive. Whoops, what's that? It suspension is super dumpy? Hmmm... dumpy suspension + tight steering = disaster. Upon heavy braking the rear tires actually unloaded enough that both rear tires scrubbed the ground (this is hard threshold braking from 15mph).
7. So you get all this for a nice healthy sum, that could get you a 4runner or jeep for the four wheeler, or a nissan murano for the soccer mom, and you'd still have lots of money left to pay for your 7 kids' college. At the end, I left the H2 with 5x as much distaste as I had for it before I drove it.

first page of this thread hates the h2 and the third page likes it, well a little lol
here is the range rover about the same price http://www.landroverusa.com/us/en/Vehicles/Range_Rover/Overview.htm?route=__link__Thumbnail_2
The hummer is 55,000 the range is 75,000 for the base model , Nothin like trashing a 75,000 car that is made for the road , now the mercedes g-wagen i have seen down at the offroad park i go to , and they work great , lockers front and rear , Not as gooda s a jeep , but still good ,also the grand cherokee has a new thing called quadra drive , you have seen my jeep , i was down there with this kid who had one , i was spinnig on this icy part , he just rolled over it like ot was nothing , so The h2 is good if you are going camping , not for off road use , The h1 is still 10x better , This is all my opinion though

the H2's function is to look good in rap videos, rollin on 26's yo. it's all about image. the image of "i gots so damn much money an' no damn taste yo"

the H3 is for people who want to look like basketball players or rappers but can't afford the payments on an H2.

both are poser-mobiles. only 1% of either will ever see a trail more challenging than a mall parking lot.

when gas hits $4 a gallon, you're gonna see a lot of these going cheap. all the soccer moms will bail out and buy Caravans. if we get shortages to go with the high prices, you'll see them abandoned, with homeless bums living in em. that's if the Sierra Club doesn't torch em all first.

chances are that $4.00 a gallon would be like you paying $2.00 for the same fuel.

I fill up the Caddy,Taho and the Burb with $60 which last me maybe 4-5 days each ..I wouldnt have it any other way

Today was a hot 80 deg,we had 2 all star championships back to back ,drove 40 miles with the AC blasting on high to The Great Steak house and drove back...No Jeep/Yota in the world would have made my day any better...GUARANTEED!!!

I guess if we had Dirt trails like most of you have as back yards,I would feel different...But I dont have "Dirt anything"{without driving 60-100 miles} so I cant feel different otherwise.

We also have a k5 Full vert Blazer project but its to Valuable to Bash with

BTW, You must drive a full MOAB ready trails truck ,hate basketball, have killer taste and no money to your name....since I assume you would be the total opposite of the above

I agree to a point with micro. The H2 is nothing but an image thing. Nobody buys it becuase it's a superb offroad vehicle, they buy it because it makes them feel big and important.

The interior is cheaply made like PWT said. I rode in one and was NOT impressed with the quality of the interior.

A stock yota will outwheel one any day.
My lawn tractor is faster (thats not a joke either).
They are just an expensive glorified curb crawler making a statement that you realy dont know anything about trucks, and fall right into their advertising ploy.
Imagine the rig you can build with the $ someone spent on that.
And i deffenantly would pick a jeep over any hummer, especaly a blue torch rig or other tube buggy. Id even pick a nice tube framed rig over 3 curb crawlers.

And tell me this, what do you gain with 28" wheels? longer braking distance, more rotating mass, piss poor handling, even slower acceleration? oh i like the sound of that better get me some.

some things you do because you can, not because it makes you stop sooner, or turn tighter.

sure, a stock toyota might be able to outwheel an H2. but i guarantee a stock toyota won't be as comfortable.

i drive a 2wd Ranger that doesn't pretend to be anything but a 2wd Ranger. it's all i need for driving to work and the home depot. i can take or leave basketball, killer taste is a given since i hang out here, and as for no money...yeah that's about right. what i do spend gets spent on substance, not bling. there are no 26 inch spinners on my Ranger and never will be, not because they're expensive. it's cuz they're f***ing ugly and lame. H2 buyers would disagree.

i'm not exactly Hummmmmmer's target demographic. and even if i did have more money than taste, i can think of about 30 other vehicles i'd buy before an H2 found its way into my driveway.

if i wanted something that got 9 mpg, i'd track down my old Caddy hearse and buy it back. that's got more cargo room anyway, and has probably seen more offroad than any H2. that thing was a TANK!

the H2s i've seen around here are driven by 2 kinds of people: posers and angry dwarfs. if you're so insecure and image-conscious that you need a $50,000 APC to drive around in, do us all a favor and just stay home. there's no place you can drive to where your company is wanted anyway.

H3

The h3 would be a better choice for off road especially if you do a solid axle up front and 37s on bead locks thats just my opinion.

they all suck.

The original Hum Vee was created to do one thing well......that one thing was to drive behind tanks, hence their incredible center clearance. Tanks make large and deep tracks and the HumVee could easily drive behind in the sandy areas of the middle east,

you ever seen how wide a tank is? even as wide as the humvee is, it cannot run in a tanks tracks. it is almost like saying "the honda civic was designed to run in a humvees tracks" not happening.

the humvee was designed as a replacement for the old military jeep (like the ones in M*A*S*H) it was designed for general running around, mounting machine guns or tow missiles, and getting off the road when the roads ran out. it is only that wide because the government said "we need to be able to turn on a 50 degree downslope at 30 mph." or whatever specs they said. basically it is wide because they wanted stability. the old jeeps were easy to roll.

but anyway, i like the H3. yes, it is not as good as the H1 but it was never meant to be so it's not even fair comparing them. the H3 is just a normal everyday truck with a little better than average off-road ability. same goes for the H2. and the ground clearance issues you all seem to be having are easily rectified by removing the step bars.

What does everyone have against yuppie soccer moms and men with small dicks?

Who cares if someone wastes money on a big stupid POS?

Who cares if it can't wheel? All it has to do is show off the fact that you mortgage your gas, can drive over curbs, and that you are interested in protecting your precious artifact child.

So far, no one that I know of who owns an H2 has bought it to wheel. It's not even a consideration of theirs. It's only a testament to free market. We buy **** we don't need and act like we do. Then we find a way to justify it. I'm more disturbed by H2 alarm clocks...

The moral? Who remembers the Excursion? Back in '04 here in Newark, DE, there was a Mitsubishi dealer offering 14k as a trade in on '03-'04 models. I had a friend who was selling Endeavors for the dealership, and he took in 2 at this price. No one was surprised except for the owners.

we still have to look at the damn things clogging up our roadways. but i think i've found a solution to Hummermania. on dealership doors, change the PUSH sign to PULL (or vice versa) and the droolers will starve trying to figure out how to get into the building to buy one.

I think the fact that the new high end H1 shares a transfer case with some jeeps says something about what GM is doing with the Hummer name.

LOL they both SUCK!!! LOL check this vid out!!!
