happymachinist MRC PRO Build

*drool

can i haz!?! mine sits in pieces... one things breaks, wait for new said piece, start to reassemble, and 1)doesnt fit or 2) something else breaks/needs replaced
:(
Sorry I think I'll keep her. I've got WAAAAY too much time into her

Man that's a nice rig! I like the way you mounted the batt factory location blows for steering....

Thanks! Yes it does, my tire rubbed like a real SOB with the servo shifted to the side. My batteries BARELY fit. I had to use just a tiny piece of Velcro to hold it in place so it could still "float" a little and not bind on my chassis.

Another tiny update. Got sick of looking at those neon springs and finally stripped them and hit them with some gloss black powder. Much easier on the eyes IMO.

I think next on my list is to order some 1/8" titanium rod and redo my steering linkages to lighten them up. Time to put this thing on a diet...well not really a diet but better distribute its weight. RTR it sits at 2lbs 13.6oz

Well this last weekend I spent a little time in the shop. I give you the "moose knuckle" clamp on weight :)

I was able to keep my weight the same in the front within .1 oz between the new knuckle weight and the old weighted hub...not bad.

For the rear I'm going to need to make another couple half moon weights to get it back up to where I had it before with the brass hubs.

She seems to have a little more snap than before and no wonder I took nearly 9 oz of weight off the drivetrain and bolted it solid to the truck.

I'm going to keep an eye on my temps, and if it runs a little cooler I want to jump up to a 13t pinion.

Did a little crawling today at the park. It's amazing how far this thing has come since I first took it out. Pics aren't the best but I was by myself so its the best I could do.

Dayum, you do some amazing work! Very nice!

Holy chit! 9 oz! Have you tried running it with less weight? That just seems like a ton of weight.. I mean that's almost a 1/4 of the weight of my whole rig... What's ur rtr weight?

Well my front brass hubs weigh 3.3 and the rears weighed an once a piece. So 8.6 oz. I didn't think that was all that much...is it? The aluminum hubs weigh .3 oz each.

RTR is at 2lbs 11.4oz if my memory serves me right. Down from 2lbs 13.1 oz before the new weights an alum hubs.

Oh, that's not so bad then.. It just sounded like alot..
I believe I'm 2 oz up front an .5 oz on the rear. I think.. Lol.. Pretty well at 2 lbs 8 oz rtr

Have you tried it with less weight?

I tried it with none, that didnt work worth a damn haha. My 3 versions of weights have all been a touch over 3oz. (Got that from my reading.) 3oz-ish helped so I've just kinda stuck with it. I

probably should try less, I've lightened it up enough in other places and got the CG lower since I added the weight initially.

I have been very pleased with this whole lighter rig thing, even with torsion it works. Specially since my mini juice was 3.5+lbs, I don't know how it did it, but crawled like a champ!
You prolly have ur weight placed right, I have felt that makes all the diff. I ran mine with weight front bias, but ended up front wheel down in a whole an screwed! The lighter/better balanced rig seems to float that hole/gap..

I'm sure driver preference and chassis geometry has a lot to do with it too.

I should probably try less weight, though, when I decided 3oz was the ticket I was running different tires, links, springs, battery placement AND had a higher COG overall.

And a correction to my previous post my RTR weight is 2lbs 12.1oz with an 850mah battery.

What? Wow! 850 2s or 3s? I'm no where near that.. I think my chassis an wheels adds a bit over the pro chassis.. I'm running a 300 mah 2s or 240 mah 3s.. Enough for a 5 min course an then some..

Yeah they're big I know...got them before I knew better haha...but where I don't comp they work pretty well for me, I can get an easy 1/2 hour of goofin around. They are a real tight fit, though.

I'm gonna get some smaller ones coming to see how much better she handles.

Layed down some new paint.

This is a budy's and my attemp at a little coarse seeings how our natural terrain around here is flat. It's still a work in progress, probably another couple pickup loads of rock at our disposal. Threw in a few action shots, the rain didn't help crawling but I was still impressed at what they could do with the slick surfaces.
