For a few weeks we have been receiving phone calls from a company unknown. The name shows up as Globes 516-453-5655 on our caller I.D. but when I google the #, this is what I find...

516-453-5655 / 5164535655 1/6

It seems several people are having the same problems, some of them far worse.

The other day Globes called and a man with an Indian accent spoke to my fiance and was extremely rude to her, saying she was stupid for not wanting to listen to him. He said he would call back every day and left on a racist tone by saying "you people are so rude, no wonder why everyone hates your country", then hung up while she was trying to respond.

Today he called again, I asked if he was the one that spoke rudely to my fiance, he confirmed. I then proceeded to rip his ass. I then asked to speak to his supervisor, also sounded Indian and she was just as rude. I told her to take my number off her call list and that I was going to file charges for harassment. She responded by rudely asking how she could help me. REALLY? I blew up, I told her again what I wanted her to do. She responded again with "Sir sir sir sir", at which point I started yelling again telling her to stop harassing me and to not call here again, she hung up on me.

Now, these people have been calling 3 to 4 times a week, sometimes daily and I am at my whits end. We have been signed up for a no calling list but can't file a claim for 65 days. So that's where I currently sit. We normally don't answer these type calls but this company/douche is very annoying by calling on weekends and after 8:00pm. So, what do I do?

The story on the front page is ironic.

That's where i signed up for the no call list. I'm not "active" yet, hence the wait to file a complaint.

Change numbers or turn the ringer off.

Let the answering machine get it or if you have call forwarding, send it to the local police dept.

Can't really turn the ringer off as this is our only phone (I no longer believe in cell phones) and need to receive important calls.

I did not mean for you to file a complaint regarding the Do Not Call laws, I meant file a complaint for harassment. Take your call records, along with that Supervisor's name, to them and get the AG to bring a case against them...

A few years back my wife had a guy that kept calling her, he sounded like he was from somewhere in the middle east, and you could tell that he was in a different country because of the long delay on the phone. He kept calling telling her that she had won a large money prize and needed her information such as social security number, bank account number, phone number, address, etc....She kept asking him to stop calling her or else she would call the cops and he would keep telling her that she was stupid for not claiming her prize and such.

Well this went on for probably 2 weeks of him calling every night around the same time so finally I got fed up and answered the phone one night. I told him I was going to track him down, rip the turben off his head & piss all over it and then curb stomp the shit out of him along with some other kind words:mrgreen:. needless to say he only called back one time & that was that....:lmao:

That's what I need! I will look into this further then, thanks. Unfortunately I couldn't get any names, uncooperative is not even the word for these people.

While this sounds extremely fun, i'm afraid it would get me nowhere. Still made me smile though thinking about it. "thumbsup"

I've taken a no mercy approach with telemarketers. First, we screen most of our calls at home and if we don't recognize the number, rarely answer it. If it's important, the person will leave a message and I'll call back. If I'm not paying attention and just answer the phone, it usually takes a few seconds for the system at their end to hook up, so I hang up before they connect. If they do connect and I get the telltale blathering on, I hang up.

Pretty straightforward. There's no reasoning with these lowlifes, they have an answer for everything. Forget "no call" lists, they're pretty much useless when these people are based in another country. They can't do much if you simply hang up on them or never answer their calls in the first place.

Yah I was actually kinda suprised that he stopped calling after that because he was really persistant with his calling. But when he called I didnt give him a chance to say anything because I was filling his ears with just about every racist comment in the vocabulary, just basically wasting his time:mrgreen:

Same here. We have a phone with voice caller ID...it will call out the name listed. I dont even make a move toward the phone until I hear that voice. I report all calls made to my house (even the local police office that has solicited me for contributions) that are not wanted. The Do Not Call service has cut down on the number of solicitation calls we receive.

You should be able to block the number and the call will just not come through on your end. Have you tried calling your phone company to have the number(s) blocked?

That was what she was going to do tomorrow. Only recently have we started to answer the calls (because of weekend and after normal hours calling) and their attitude makes me not want to just ignore them.

I realize there are going to be situations such as this but it just seemed to me this instance was a bit extreme. Hopefully i will have it taken care of soon and no longer have to deal with rude/threatening telemarketers. If that's even what they are. I'm not sure they are even selling anything. I haven't been able to find if any of the other people being harassed have gotten any justice. Doesn't look like it though.

This one is obviously a scam and not a telemarketer.

If the telemarketer calls again, ask to be put on their Do Not Call List and ask them to mail you a copy of their Do Not Call Policy. By law they have to provide that for free, and if not I believe you can take them to court. I believe they are allowed to call one more time after putting you on the list, but if they call again after that I think you can take them to court for that too.

Look it up though because it's been awhile since I heard all of this.

We have tried their automated no call list, dial the number and you have two options.

#1 automated no call list - doesn't work, we tried it and others that have the same problem have also. - check link posted in first post.

#2 voicemail - always full and others have reported that as well

If you try to talk reasonably to them they start being belligerent, saying they are only taking a survey and tell you that you are stupid for not wanting to cooperate with them. They haven't actually threatened us but others have said that they have been.

Perhaps these aren't telemarketers either. I'd do like Bob says...put the phone down and go about your business. They'll get tired eventually.

Get one of those air power horns. The type they use a sporting events and such. Small spray can type with a horn on the end where the paint would come out if it were spray paint. They make a crazy loud sound. Set it by the phone. When they call back tell them to hold on, make em wait for about a minute, then hold air horn to phone and hit full blast. Repeat as necessary.

x2 on this /\

or just set the phone in front of the TV or radio and crank up the volume and let it sit for a few minutes.

Good stuff guys, thanks!
I feel much better after getting this rant out. We are contacting the phone company tomorrow to have the number blocked. If that doesn't work, we will then be filing harassment charges with our Attorney General.

I got rid of my "land line" 10+ years ago do to telemarketers.

Added our cell numbers to the National DO NOT CALL list and have had very few issues since.

Of the few telemarketing calls I have received have been from my wireless providers. Needless to say, I ask for a supervisor and it ends shortly.
